Our defense sucks and we need a goalie. What’s new? After the scum had done us a favor by beating Chelsea, we blew it all away by giving up a 2-0 lead to Wigan. The back four looked leaky all game and I’m surprised Wigan didn’t score much earlier. At this point, I just want the season to end because just like last year, and the year before that, we’ve shown that we can’t handle the pressure. Yes, injuries are an issue but we are Arsenal Football Club, we should be able to go to our second team and still get a result in places like Birmingham and Wigan. Up 2-0, we simply stopped playing and Wigan, which was knocking on the door all game long, just took the chances they were presented. Frankly, we deserved to lose.
Walk in the park this afternoon for us. Vito Corleone gets a clean sheet, Eboue gets a cheer and Vermaelen a brace. Other than a couple Wigan shots directly at Vito there was no threat. The six Wigan fans that traveled had nothing to be happy about. The only “negative” from our side, if I had to pick one, was RVP missing and whiffing on some chances he should at least hit the target with.
Great second half performance. 9 points clear of Villa who are playing Everton tomorrow. If Arshavin weren’t cup-tied I’d feel a lot more confident about the Champions League. Silvestre and Djourou make me a little nervous, not exactly stable components in a back four. We were poor in our set pieces and that’s something that needs to be tightened for Wednesday. Let’s just enjoy this win for now. MOTD Highlights will be posted when they become available. Here’s the Match Report. Here’s the sponsor.
I can see a Carlos Vela yellow shirt coming my way very soon. The man is cooler than the other side of the pillow. I’ll be the first to say it, I think this team can beat our first team. At the very least they’ll score a couple goals on them. No doubt. A nice night at the Emirates, Arsenal lowered their prices for this game when they should’ve raised them.
Who would’ve thunk that the Carling Cup would be the most enjoyable tournament this year? Watching these teenagers dismantle a full-strength premiership team brings joy to the cockles of my heart’s heart. The look on that fuck Titus Bramble’s face when he gets schooled by a kid old enough to be his son is just priceless. Let’s not have a letdown this weekend otherwise this feeling of happiness and joy is going to disappear real fast.
