Arsenal vs Newcastle MOTD Highlights and Goals 3-1

Good win today. I don’t think Martins’ penalty was that bad, Almunia stretched nicely and guessed right to make the save. This looked like it was going to end up 3-1 from the beginning, RVP missed two first half chances which would’ve blown this match wide open. The more I watch Arhsavin the more I love his game, he’s got the toughness of Flamini and the speed of Clichy, very gritty player that adds a lot to the mix. Too bad he’s cup-tied for the Champions League. The pressure’s on Aston Villa to beat Liverpool now. Man Utd and Chelsea have already lost today. Here’s the Match Report. Arsene Wenger’s very happy in his post-match interview and says that Theo Walcott could be back in 10-12 days and that Adebayor and Fabregas are “not far”. Rosicky though, is very far.

Before we get to the goals and the Almunia save, check out the MOTD Highlights which contains Taylor’s cheap-shot on Arhsavin:

Arsenal vs. Newcastle Highlights: Gunners back on top…for now

Posted by Arsenalist on 29th January 2008

Arsenal 3, Newcastle 0

Ho hum, we beat Newcastle again. The Flamini goal reminded me of the Rosicky goal against Hamburg in the CL last year. Adebayor missed a tough chance where he tried to wheel it in and it went just over the bar. Moments later he scored anyway. MOTM = Flamini. The Arsenal midfielders have a bet going about who’ll get the most goals, my money’s on Fabregas just because he got so many early on that it’ll be tough to catch him. Although Gattuso..er..Flamini does end up scoring late in the year and important ones too. You’ll notice in the Adebayor goal that the commentator is ripping on the referee for not allowing play to continue when Adebayor had an advantageous position. Only one of the many questionable calls all game long.

Check The Cannon for a good post-match wrap up whenever he wakes up or check out the hard working Goal Centre.

Arsenal vs. Newcastle Highlights: Gunners 4 points clear instead of 6

Posted by Arsenalist on 5th December 2007

Newcastle 1, Arsenal 1

I didn’t watch this game due to a horribly scheduled meeting at work. Very disappointing to see the Gunners not take an opportunity to go up by 6 points in the league, but 4 isn’t that bad really. According to the Soccernet report, it sounds like it was a pretty hard fought game. Check out the FootyTube videos before they’re taken down for copyright infringement.
