Aaron Ramsey Interview
Arsene Wenger Interview
Another Arsene Wenger Interview
Half time is gone. I never seen Arsenal play with so much complacency. Hopfully the price not gonna be high.
Gnabry’s game improved as the time passed. Hopefully Theo improve with this competition; Gnabry has a very good left foot and does really well in passing to right/left while running (the pass at 47/48th minute was a thing that if Theo can do it, he will be completely unplayable).
At the end, Wenger turned to his new approach of grinding out results, completely defensive formation and it has been helping for quite some time now.
Not much of a pretty football (though the goals came out of those slicky moves), but at the end result matters.
great win today as all the top teams dropped points & swansea play good football & can be hard to beat especially at home.
great result – ground out hard way! plus all other results went our way today. one of those days, hey:-)
BTW. what about Giroud’s not scoring?! c’mon whinge_brigade gotta find something to complain… no trolls?! WTF
We’re two points clear at the top – having won every game since a first-day defeat. I have this feeling that Sp*rs will finish second this season and, as per tradition, Arsenal will finish above them!
Arsenal seems to have mastered the balance between expansive football and a more pragmatic approach. This has been coming – now let’s keep it going.
Where do I post gif requests?
Need a gif where Özil spits out his gum and then kicks it back in his mouth, before the game.
@Gooner – it’s already added.
Great update, as always, arsenalist.
Happy for Gnabry on his first goal in PL, and that unstoppable Ramsey at the moment. Hopefully Giroud will back soon with his scoring and Özil can be more calm in bringing the ball to the net.
Great weekend with another great result
I wonder, where are all those Ramsey’s haters? They are hiding since we are on this awesome, screaming run.
Two additions are still needed. I hope Wenger will return to Draxler,
young and replacement for aging Rosickey and Arteta, has the ability to score, can play wide and as CM.
As for a Striker,I don not think we need to sign one, not because we have Bendner ‘best one in the World’ but Poldi and Walcott can step up.
The other addition is just nice to have and supposed to come through academy.. a young one who can play as a right and CD, hence some of our defenders are aging.
I think trolls haven’t been given much to say here and so they are more busy on Man Utd threads.
Glad to have a changed philosophy from Wenger, of grinding out results by putting on more defenders and playing unattractive football when it’s needed.
@Arschloch, we have one young player who can play as LB and CB, and so far he has impressed me with his determination and concentration. Spanish defender Miguel. He’s on loan this season, so I think Wenger is planning to put him in the first team, maybe next season, and that’s why he hasn’t signed a defender in the summer.
To be honest a striker is actually needed. We are a great team right now. We have no weaknesses in our game like other big teams. People will argue we need a new CB (which to me is DUMB when you have TV on the bench and Sagna who can play that position as well), People will mention Defensive Midfielders, which to me is idiotic. Arsenal don’t play with DM’s, they always play with either holding midfielders or transitional CMs. We have arteta and Flamini, my god they are doing so well. We have RAMSEY!! on the other slot for that position. Its really weird to ask for a new one. Get what I mean?? …
Striker is the only position we would need because of not the obvious (what if giroud is injured, but for the fact Arsenal haven’t had a world class finisher up front since RVP) Giroud is still getting up there in his career and by no means can achieve that but ATM he’s still working up there. AND! NO… Podolski isn’t a natural CF, that’s why AW doesn’t play him upfront a lot unless due to injuries. Podolski’s best position is 2nd striker in a 4-4-2 or left wing in 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1..
I feel like we have the best midfield in the EPL right now. People can mention Mancity but is their midfield as consistent as ours ATM?…no! I love our squad actually. I honestly believe beating ManU and Chelsea will be easily accomplished. The only team to beat this season is Mancity, there isn’t any team that look good to me at all.
Accept with a number of reservations.
The only typical CF is Giroud. Just look at his defensive attitude. It just has begun to improve. His physical presence makes him the right one for this role. I think now he has self-confidence, has become more setteled and shows nice technical abilities.
Podolski played with some execptions in the formation you mentined but his score rate is pretty good and he has the strengh to fill the typical CF-role. His deployment in those formations is due to his defensive capability, where the oponent has a wide MF and/or strong attacking right half and full backs(e.g. MANU under SAF).
As for holding MF (Makélélé Role)..track back any one of our MFers and you will find out he had to do this role. Even AOX in the last home game against Newcastle played as holding MF. It depends just on the fomations and characteristics of the oponents.
We have now many creative players who can act as play makers (No. 10) or false No. 10.
Wilshire and Ramsey are now all rounder, Holding MF, No.10 or false No. 10.
That is exactly our strenght now that the MF adapts to every game situation, has an offensive/defensive balance and when the injured Rosiscky, Cazorla, AOX and Diaby come back we will reach a new demension.
Moreover when Özil become fully adapted to the Arsenal’s way.
I wrote the addaition of a new CD (IOW CB) is preferably through the academy due to aging defenders and meant precautionary for the future NOT NOW.
I said right back, because Sanga can play as a CB. So when we rotate there is only Jenckison to reamin as a right back.
Nevertheless Miquel is a decent defender, I remember his goal in the Carling Cup ‘I think’. I can not say as a CB whether he has the style of a marker like Kos or a sweeper like Per. Perhaps a combination of both. Why not?
@Arschloch, I know but I guess Wenger will play Coquelin as a backup when Sagna leaves. He likes utility players.
Miguel was better than Vermaelen last season. I don’t think he can be compared to Per, maybe to Kos but he has to improve a lot to be there. He’s still a different player to Kos, he doesn’t like to make rough challenges. Still, a very hard worker and very committed player who can do well at Arsenal.
