    Good one. Nice Ramsey tricks, honestly I was worried he was wasting the move.

  3. Sufian says:

    Before the first goal, the defence was solid but as soon as 1st was conceded, it became shaky. Is AW sure that the defensive drills are good enough for even a top 4 team? I honestly think Everton have a much better defensive play. And now we will send some more players in the summer? Nice.

  4. Simon says:

    Why on earth does vermelen have an armband?

    I think he doesnt have confidance at all.

    Plus i would play koscielny over him all day long.

  5. Leigh says:

    Its Spur’s year this year. Just like it was Man City’s last year.
    Got to accept it that one day they will finish above us…

  6. Sufian says:

    @Simon, so that we will hate him and club will get $_$ for selling him (and not hurting the fans they have done before). The armband has taken his power and agility. He was solid before the 1st goal though.

  7. Gnostradamus says:

    Let the pro-Kroenke squad speak, folks. I’m sure there’s a silver lining we’re all missing.

  8. Arschloch says:

    very cheap goals out of tactical errors. I hate to say that but Arteta should better have gone for a tackle and not waved his hand in the air. Why should they have their eyes on Parker and not survey the area around them? When you defend at a high line you must have the speed to catch every kind of crosses and avoid being outplayed by just one pass.
    We have now the old cisis again. I mean the lack of a clinicl finisher. Just the point when Taylor broke Eduardo´s leg.

  9. Ofebs says:

    @ Arschloch

    Arsenal’s problems are deeper than lack of a clinical finisher.

    Too many B-list players from goalkeeper to attackers; a stubborn manager who only God know’s why he is so tactically inept + inflexible; a board that is so profit oriented they do not care about trophies anymore.

    The situation is hopeless…

  10. mofaz says:

    Remember when Pat Rice was Arsene assistant and people used to blame him for the poor defensive tactics and when Steve Bould took over every one had high hopes especially after a few games with clean sheet.
    AVB tactic was spot on, spurs lured arsenal players high up and strike with counter attacks with fast players running behind defenders..

  11. Jellykid says:

    @ mofaz LMAO

    Spurs lured arsenal higher up the pitch?? LOL…that makes no sense in any terms what so ever. Do you actually understand football or you like commenting on teams and their scores. Its an honest question seriously!?

    Arsenal played a high line from the beginning of the game!… why? well after watching arsenal for more than 8 seasons and understanding their tactics especially after their conversion of 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 to 4-2-3-1 at times, it was obvious AW wanted to dominate in the midfield area. Its much easier to dominate the middle of the park when you play a high line. What also helps Arsenal in the middle is having an actual midfielder play on the wing set up. Then that midfielder would be an extra man in the middle. That’s why Ramsey’s played A lot on the wing in the big games. There’s a lot of gains and big sacrifices in this tactic which AW prefers to implement a lot recently.

    I do give spurs credit on the first goal abusing a tactical mistake by TV playing bale through, second goal was just as bad, but there are other players to blame like Arteta of course.

    I thought we should have had goal in the first 2 minutes of the game. Did anyone see the Jenkinson cross to Giroud. That was an easy goal.. -__-”

    I also thought podolski should have came on earlier. Bale wasn’t really a threat to be honest. He got one gifted goal of a tacical mistake.

    Parker wasn’t a threat. Dembele was eh. so I thought our middle was great. except on counters.

  12. Sufian says:

    @Mofaz, last season it we had Koschielny was was in reasonably playing well and Vermaelen didn’t have the armband (meaning no weak performances), then of course we had natural DM. Bould hasn’t been bad and I bet if TV is stripped off the captaincy, our defence will be up for battle again.
    Arteta for the armband! Who agrees?

  13. mofaz says:

    @Jellykid ..not a bad game eh? When the other side scores more regardless of how good you play ..you lose..get it? No need to sugar coat the result..

  14. mofaz says:

    The gentle giant Mertesacker scored that in itself tells a lot about the performance of Arsenal’s strikers..

  15. Arschloch says:

    @Ofebs
    Compared to Spuds we have better highly gifted players. You can not say Dembele, Parker, Sig??son ..are better than Carzola, Arteta, Wishire ..Of course in form Bale is an exception. Even our defence is just as good as theirs but In this game Dawson and Vertghon were outstanding. It is really unbearable that we loose many games out of school boys defending or stupid tactical decisions. Same Mistakes have been repeatedly done year after year.
    Again…. I feel our scoring chances are not going to be converted unless a gate is open. I miss the joy of some astonishing strikes we had from Begkamp, TH, Eduardo, Fabrigas, van Persey.. to name but a few.

  16. Arschloch says:

    A club like Arsenal should not have B-List players. Look around and check all top teams e.g. Bay Munich, Barcelona, R Madrid, and last MANU. Imagine even Fabrigas and Song do not start regularly. How can we bridge the gap when we fail to beat teams like Spurs and struggle against A. Villa???

  17. Arschloch says:

    By the way NOW Wenger considers a game against Spuds as a big game :-( *) .

  18. Clinton Dawkins says:

    Wenger says fourth place will be difficult.

  19. Sufian says:

    @Clinton Dawkins, and it will be unless he fixes (and not patches up) the problem(s) with defence.

  20. Ofebs says:

    @ Arschloch

    Our players may be as good as Spurs but they lack the same hunger. Wenger does not seem to have the ability to make B-list players hungry enough to perform well beyond their capacity.

    A-list players like RvP and Wilshire have the self-belief to thrive no matter what. All players in a team must not be bulldogs but you need a handful to help keep the squad fired up at all times.

    Would be great to have a John Terry type in defence, a Viera type in midfield and a Tevez type in attack. These players have fire in their bones and supreme confidence that they can make it happen.

  21. dubbledubs71 says:

    arsenal you are breaking my heart, i never thought we could sink so low. total shambles season after season getting worse with each one. wenger continues to show blind faith & play players so out of form its unreal, usually out of position & arsenal are not doing enough to shift bench warmers out the door PERMANENTLY. there is a lot of good players in the squad but its not enough as they are being let down by below average squad players. big money has to be spent to stop the rot, complete defensive overhaul, midfield beast, striker (a real 1 not lightweight) backup goalie & maybe we have a chance to turn it around ARSENAL FOREVER

  22. Disappointed says:

    Arsenal = Liverpool.
    Good in the past… Currently spiraling down.

  23. Jellykid says:

    @mofaz … never said “not a bad game” don’t know whta your talking about…

    Arsenal actually has a better squad than spurs. Its just the way the set up is. In general Arsenal’s squad is much better but for that game, it was alright. Arsenal had Sagna injured and koscielny injured. Giroud is better than adebayor. In the middle Wilshere and Cazorla is much better than any midfielder for the spurs. I think the setup for arsenal with out playing with a DM has been at times slow but effective. The spurs have a quicker setup with actual DM’s but have negatives as well with that. In the CB’s ALL OUR CB’s except squalicci and djourou ARE BETTER THAN THE SPUDS CBS!! truth to be told. Koscielny would best out all the spuds cbs.

    I believe the way arsenal play, they just need a more clinical finisher. The chance rates they create for their striker is still pretty high. Giroud just doesn’t finish as well as he should. Hopefully he gets the better of that.

    But to say we have B-list players,… I don’t know about that…

  24. Bobby Zamora says:

    @Jellykid

    Agree with you mostly, but I think you picked the wrong game to talk about dominance in the midfield. Wilshere probably had one of his worst games since moving up to the first squad. Dembele I thought was excellent, and he is by far my favorite midfielder on the Tottenham squad.

    Rosicky needs to get more playing time. He deserves it very much and he should be the one starting instead of Ramsey, even though ramsey has been solid recently. In the game against Bayern and in this one, Rosicky got less than 20 minutes and immediately had an impact. Didnt Rosicky used to play as a left midfielder in the 4-4-2?

  25. Ofebs says:

    @ jellykid

    …you note that Giroud does not finish as well as he should yet you draw back from admitting that players like him are B-list. There is no point for a team like Arsenal to bring in a striker that can’t hit the ground running, absolutely no point…

    Arsenal has the funds to go out there, pay up to 30million euros or more if need be and get a deadly striker that will finish the chances the team creates. It is a bad joke that the club thinks Theo or Gervinho are good enough to do it for Arsenal.

    The club needs to grow up…

  26. Arschloch says:

    @Ofebs
    I do agree Giroud right now is not the striker who can give us glory. Just like Gervinho. One good day in the month and for the rest you see nothing. Both have the type of tokenistic, sloppy, undetermined movements.
    During the recent years there are one or two positions occupied by B-List players. This has been our problem. Just track down our efficiency drop in the last 8 years and the number of those direcly involved: Sendouros, Silvestre, Eboue, Bendner, Squillaci, ….Also some mysterious tactical decisions Carlos Villa, Gervinho as main strikers and so forth. Those two factors are implication of each other. When you do not have the right one for the position you will engage a B-List player. When you engage a B-List on a high level you must make a compensation e.g playing ones out of positions –> wreak havoc, exhausting best performing players. Ironically we have made a slight team working progress. When we referred to our dicipline we used the words headless chicken.
    Still I must say do not panic. If Wenger makes some amendments and adds a decent striker and two CBs, we will be a force next season. Go for Ashley Williams and Holt at least.

  27. Ofebs says:

    @ Arschloch…

    The club probably needs to invest about 100million Euros, about 85million pounds, into the squad this summer to make it competitive. No more panic buys or deals – just outright excellent players. An attacker, commanding midfielder and commanding defender.

  28. Jellykid says:

    @Ofebs..

    Giroud is a quality player and he is actually better finisher. I believe his finishing is down to style of play arsenal plays ATM. I still believe he has the quality to be one the most dominant strikers in Europe not just some striker who can get up to 20 goals a season. I did mention about his finishing isn’t as clinical recently BUT to say he’s a B-list player is a joke. Sometimes we aren’t as appreciative of our players as fans, because Giroud actually is a better CF than almost 80% of the strikers in the EPL. His game is very eratic but over the top on some levels for a CF. I saw the french final last season his game can be really good. The only thing I can agree with you is getting a another striker but to spend 30 mil.. eh.

    @Bobby Zamora
    When I was comparing the arsenal players to the spuds players, I wasn’t comparing their performances on that game. It was a general outlook on our squad compared to theirs. Wilshere didn’t really look to have a great game and cazorla was trying. Again I believe our setup compared to spurs was different and thats why dembele had a better game at times. I didn’t think Dembele was outstanding or anything but he’s good player. Parker was well decent. Arteta got over run by dembele a lot. Thats why he was subbed out. We could complain on why we didn’t have an actual DM but the setup for arsenal was with Ramsey drifting in the middle to help. again different setups. both have negatives and positives. BTW Rosicky was deployed on the left for 4-4-2 but his best position is CAM since borussia Dortmund days. He won the championship with them.

  29. Clinton Dawkins says:

    Jellykid, I admire your optimism, but Wenger doesn’t appear to share it.

  30. Ofebs says:

    Giroud is better than 80% of the CF in the PL so we should be happy having him. I am not – Arsenal should have the very best. It seems we have given up on the possibility of Arsenal having players like Ronaldo and Messi in its ranks…

    The only thing stopping this from happening is a lack of vision and guts from the leaders of the club. Why can’t the club at this point when it has paid off most of its debt pay 30 million to have the very best in its ranks? The money is there, use it…

  31. Sufian says:

    @Arschloch, please don’t put Eboue and Silvestre in the same category. Eboue was a very good right-winger and Central midfielder, and what was Silvestre? Sold by ManU to sabotage Arsenal? More than likely.
    It was a wise decision to sell Vela, he deserved to get playing time and I think Wenger didn’t give him enough time. Good think is that Arsenal can get him back under attractive release clause.

  32. Sufian says:

    I am sorry for that outburst, though it wasn’t meant to be offensive. Your comments are generally very sound but this one was a bit unfair. Eboue was not at the same level as Sagna but when they played on the right together, we never had worries of making mistakes at right wing. Both were RBs naturally and both were excellent crossers. Only a change of formation, and some mishaps lead to his exit.

  33. Arschloch says:

    @Sufian
    Eboue was very sharp in his first seasons. His last seasons at Arsenal were undoubtly very disastrous. Bad attitude of some stupid supporters damaged his confidence and performance. He was not the perfect player to match that level where our club was. Remember his bad tackle on Lucas causing that last seconds penalty and remember the question mark about his fottball’s brain.
    Above all now it is history and we have to look forwards.

  34. Jellykid says:

    I can’t believe someone threw a banana at bale lmao….EPIC!

  35. Arschloch says:

    @Sufian
    This phenomena of setting players out of positions or completley transforming them occurs excessively in Arsenal formations. Sometime it works wonderfully, sometimes it backsfires. Good examples: TH winger –> spearhead, Song fullback –> MF. Bad examples: Arshavin MF –> Winger, Eboue fullback –>CF. Iam afraid Wenger is desperately trying to emulate his earlier success using the same methods and destroying Ramsey as RB, Carzola as Winger, …

  36. Sufian says:

    Eboue was defensively not as intelligent and tidy as Sagna but way way ahead of Silvestre. I think in the game against ManU (?) in CL Eboue was brought for Silvestre at CB (after horrendous errors in first half). It tells a lot about Eboue being better than Silvestre. Although, I think Silvestre would’ve done better if played as LB and Clichy maybe was put at CB.

    @formation change, I am glad that you actually glad that you mentioned Arshavin there. Some brainless supporters aimlessly blame him (and him alone) for his unimpressive performances.
    These formation changes drop backs (Cazorla and Ramsey) are probably due to ‘economical’ system of the club . However I’m happy that Ramsey is not being played as a winger anymore, giving no chance to headless critics.

    The real problem with formations, according to my understanding, is that Arsenal do not have choice between formations like other teams have. ManU change their formations/line-ups as per requirement of games but we don’t. I hate Fergusson but I like how he deals with things like that. I bet if Wenger does half of those things, we could do a lot better. Utilizing the players is not there, but overusing them is.
