  1. Shariq says:

nothing to say really, this is going from bad to worse.

  2. Clinton Dawkins says:

It’s fine to trust in Wenger for a long time, but it’s time to admit that we need someone else in the boardroom to persuade him to buy more proven players. Alan Hansen has been proven right so far.

  3. Ofebs says:

Yes, Arsene need to buy A-list players and stop populating Arsenal with B-list players. The club must pay what it takes to have the very best players come to Arsenal.

  4. mofaz says:

Arsenal had a better chance of winning the FA Cup than the CL Cup, cleary Arsene is out of touch with reality, Arsenal simply lacks the class to win the CL. The FA Cup was the best chance of winning a trophy this season but winning trophy is not the target for Wenger it’s finishing top 4 and even that looks shaky ..

  5. mofaz says:

Having said that to some tonight’s performance may not be that a bad..

  6. PV4 says:

Well it’s another loss, another familiar story, another fruitless season. Like mofaz said even 4th trophy seems out of reach if they keep losing to relegation teams like Blackburn. Every season it’s the same story, same mistakes, same problems, but the lessons are not being learnt, defensive screw ups are not addressed, right players not recruited, …. oh well. Wasn’t expecting anything really. They should just come out and say, ‘we are not in it for any trophy, we’ll show up for some games and be cocky and lose the others, and scramble for 4th cpot end of season’, and no one will be disapponted.

  7. Sufian says:

@Clinton Dawkins, it might even be allow instead of persuade. No one knows what goes inside the club.
One thing though, Gazidis said that Arsenal will be great club (or team, don’t remember) in 2 years. Looks to me a restriction from board on Wenger (not to sign top players).

  8. mofaz says:

If its true that AW has to operate under strict monetary restrictions and unable to comment because of contractual gag order then he should be applauded for sacrificing his pride for the Arsenal. The willingness of him to put up with directors and keep silent maybe the reason why the club is so eager to offer him a 2 years contract extension. He is willing to take the flak and face the media and fans discontents while the directors are counting the profits. He will be ideal for teams such as Real Madrid and when Mourinho leaves RM , AW will be their no. 1 target..

  9. mofaz says:

Hope Arsenal will concentrate for the true seasonal target of qualifying for next season’s CL and win the remaining PL games including against MU..

  10. Reza says:

    @mofaz
What monetary restriction! Yes, we can’t spend like Chelsea and Man city, but for God’s sake why don’t we spend what we have wisely. How much we paid for Gervinho, 10m. What’s the point of even putting him on the pitch. What does he bring to the team!? We paid 15m for Oxo. Has he delivered? Couldn’t we pay that sort of money for a decent established player? We could snatch Diame for 3.5m. Why didn’t we get Ba? We have enough money, but we spent it on youth project or flop players. We have a dismantled team. Vermaelen on the left-back and Ramsey on the flank is a recipe for disaster. Ramsey is a CM not a winger, AW is ruining this guy’s career.

  11. Gnostradamus says:

Sufian, I think Gazidis’s comment was just another in a long line of “youth project” fantasies.

Reza, I’ve noticed that too. Frankly, the once vaunted scouting network seems no more, as Newcastle has done ten times better at buying talent for cheap from France. Plus, the complete vacuum in the boardroom means there’s no one to help the obviously overwhelmed manager.

Time to bring back Dein et al unless Kroenke actually brings in real board members.

  12. Ofebs says:

What can Arsenal fans say that has not been said over and over again in the last couple of years. The old man who chairs the board is taking the club to the grave by his stubborn refusal to allow money-men take over. I am sure his pals see his stand as heroic.

The talk that the club will do alright in 2 years or when financial fair play gets activated is an illusion. The money-men in the premier league, la liga, serie A, have already devised strategies to beat this latest constraint on their fun.

    RIP Arsenal!

  13. a.k.a gunner says:

that’s right… don’t believe anything that Gazidis and co says (including wenger). They are just building up stories to milk the fans further. I have seen that some people say that the manager is helpless and it is the board who are the real villains. It is not. This “don’t spend, make profit” ideology is wenger’s project also. If you have listened to him in the past 7-8 years, he has consistently advocated this policy.
Every time the board says there is money to spend Wenger decides otherwise. Remember that season when we had no known striker upfront and Wenger decided to be stringent and played ARSHAVIN (poor guy) as a lone striker. He had the option to buy a decent striker in the Jan transfer window then. Eventually he crashed out of the title race in spectacular fashion.

And again this season when we so badly needed a DM and a striker.

So please don’t try to make a saint out of Wenger and put all the blame on the board. He has not been very honest with the fans. Remember the phrases – “judge me in may”, “mental strength” and the press statement – Fabregas and Nasri is going nowhere only to sell them in the subsequent weeks.

  14. Arschloch says:

As much as Iam happy for Bayern’s win Iam so sad to see Arsenal hugly outclassed. We might have the best stars on the field or the best manager of the world or whatever the board is… fact is that we are now a medicore team. The results speak louder. If we do not accept that we have a problem we will never fix it. So stop those old songs about “In Wenger we trust” and those IF’s and WHEN’s. With or without Wenger a new U-turn has finally to come.

  15. mofaz says:

Maybe AW is trying to be a “jack of all trades but master of non” kind of manager..he is in charge of every thing at Arsenal..and forgot his main task is to win trophies..

  16. Arschloch says:

I hope this squad will stay together. Additions are badly needed. A center back and a striker. Lewondowki will leave Dortmund. A decent one who can slot easily in Arsenal squad hence Dortmund play in a similar way. A center back like Colidicni will make our defence very solid.

  17. Clinton Dawkins says:

Ofebs, one thing you said I have to disagree with: The money-man has come to Arsenal and he’s here because he agrees with the board on the no-big spending policy. He’s retained Wenger because the manager agrees with them.

  18. Ofebs says:

Clinton Dawkins – if the club’s big share holder is a money-man, I am yet to see the money. He has been silent and scrooge like, I don’t see this changing. If he remains this way – we are doomed.

  19. Gnostradamus says:

The talk of being okay even if we don’t get 4th place shows how far the club’s fallen, and how much further it can go. Wasn’t that the “trophy” we’ve been after all these years? Now even that is out of reach. But it’s okay, because apparently we’re strong enough, financially of course.

Can’t wait for the new season!

  20. Disappointed says:

    Feels horribly cheated…

  21. Ofebs says:

    Gnostradamus – well stated…

It is so painful that fans of the club are being primed to accept the possibility that not qualifying for the Champion’s league is ok.

Where is the ambition? Where is the passion to win? Arsenal the football club is dead. What we have is Arsenal the investment firm…

  22. Sufian says:

Club has no ambition and supporters have no brains, simple as that. When RVP said that he didn’t agree with the manager and Gazidis upon how the club should run, everybody slayed Persie and said Arsenal could survive without him. I said it back then, and am saying it again: does the survival mean that we’ll stay in top 4 or EPL?

Since the past several years supporters have been shown the green gardens while given nothing. When Ian Wright says that even a Carling Cup here and there would’ve kept the fans happy, everyone just slaughtered him because he was what, questioning Wenger. Emotion driven idiots, aka Arsenal fans.

  23. Jellykid says:

I dunno about bayern hugely outclassing arsenal??….. if you actually seen the whole game instead of reading and watching clips, They both attacked well. It was on the defense that counted most I believe in this game. Arsenal should have had 2 easy goals. Bayern were a bit lucky on their 3rd but eh in the end I believe both teams attacked each other well enough.

If you didn’t see the actual game and think bayern won in every position you got to be an idiot. I’m a Bayern supporter but they have their weaknesses as well and we did exploit them but not well enough. The game was down to whose defense was better.

  24. Bobby Zamora says:

    @Jellykid

I sort of agree. I just cant escape the feeling that Arsenal was really unlucky in this one. I know Arteta should have closed in on the cross for the first goal, but man, that was a one in a hundred strike by Kroos, even for him. The second goal a corner, again a scramble, but fine, I expected them to score from a corner tbh.

And then the third goal…no comment. The attacking move was great, but Mandzukic knew nothing about that goal. And I’ve seen reporters talk about a “signature” finish from him… Man it is just so fu****g fashionable to bash Arsenal, and I don’t know why. Liverpool is historically a greater club, and they hit rock bottom these last couple of years – no one cares. Arsenal loses to the best side in Europe at the moment and everyone is all over them. The truth is they weren’t outclassed as everyone is saying. Imagine if Giroud’s shot had gone in…What a different tune everyone would have been singing. So frustrating…

  25. Sufian says:

@Bobby Zamora, agreed that most of the things are plain attempts to bash Arsenal. Arsenal haven’t had luck for a couple of years. Had Bendtner scored that goal against Barca, it would have sunk them but it didn’t happened. I don’t remember when that match was played but I guess it was the same match RVP was sent off in.
These unlucky things happening to Arsenal are down to 2 things:
    1. Wenger doesn’t attack and humiliate refs and associations like Ferguson,
    2. Arsenal lack players who can win games even if referees are favouring the opponents.

  26. Arschloch says:

-but man, that was a one in a hundred strike by Kroos.
surely never seen him playing before. He is well known for such
brilliant strikes, apparently you do not know this and neither
    Arsenal first team staff.
-Liverpool is historically a greater club
    A sign of capitulation?
-Imagine if Giroud’s shot had gone in…
If I were a fish I would not be caught.

Bro give yourself a reality check.

  27. Arschloch says:

Clearly ouclassed and it could have been a humlation. To have sportsman spirit is to admit that one is not good enough. Barca humlated Bayern some years ago in Bayern Arena. Bayern admited afterwards that Barca were a class of their own. Why should not we accept it, sort it out so as to come stronger after the defeat?????

  28. Bobby Zamora says:

    @Arschloch

Good job with misquoting me. I said it was a very difficult strike, EVEN for Kroos. I am well aware of his capabilities, but even he doesn’t score like that on command, not to mention that the goal itself was completely against the run of play up to that moment.

As for the Liverpool part..A sign of capitulation? I said historically they are the better club, meaning that they have won more trophies, and also won the champions league on multiple occasions. There is no argument here so I don’t know what you’re talking about.

I’ll give you the last point about Giroud’s shot. At that point, I was just reaching

  29. Ofebs says:

Arsenal is not unlucky, just inept at getting the job done when the going gets tough.

Where are the Arsenal ex-players and greats working behind the scenes to ensure football administrators look at the club favourably?
