    Having my tears now….we cant compete… :(

  • USGunner

    mediocre players, mediocre results…no tactics

  • Sufian

11 against 12 is a tough thing, still the team has to pick themselves up. You can’t stand if there’s no whistle!
Before Kos was signed, we had that very prominent and unluckily we see it again. I remember in some game when Djourou stopped chasing the attacker (calling for a FK) while Kos did not and dispossessed the opponent. This is something Wenger should be fixing, it’s costing us points!

  • Srikanth

Where are all the guys who are so positive ? I dont see any comments here :) Thank god i dont watch any of these matches, what a waste of 90 minutes it would have been and after that feeling bad for the rest of the day, its time for Arsene to go, high time, we were lucky to qualify for Champions League last season, this season we wont be so lucky!!!

  • http://gnostradamus.com Gnostradamus

    Don’t worry, they’ll come out.

I vehemently disagree with you on “Wenger out” though. Nothing will change if the board has no ambition and allows Kroenke to pocket the profits.

  • JellyKid

@Srikanth your an idiot who comes online to search the box scores! and then you have some nerve to judge extremely easily on the whole team. Its like me judging your name for some idiot unknown brown person who doesn’t watch football yet you comment here so much! Get my point?!?…

SAW THE WHOLE GAME! I WATCH ALMOST EVERY GAME! was a bummer but I’m not bitching about it! I don’t say “hey where are those negative A-holes??” when we win.

I do agree the team needs an uplift, But I also agree maybe player formations might improve our stability. Does that include getting a new player?…I hope so! I think AW’s tactics are legit to a certain extent when we need more from the players! Result of playing too many games consistently with main CM injuries obviously got to us.

i understand why its hard to find a CM or an attacking player, because of the market and squad stability but I do hope something comes up. I don’t agree on quick easy simple CM signings!

  • mofaz

Its like watching a mid to bottom table team against a top 4 team..which is which ? Go figure.

  • Clinton Dawkins

    @JellyKid Racist much?

  • http://gnostradamus.com Gnostradamus

Look at Spurs. They can give hold the possible champions to a draw. When was the last time we did that?

  • Jellykid

    @dawkins

    Hypocrite much??!!

I was proving a point in my statement btw! =]
Not trying start a racist bonfire her! =]

  • konvict

horrible call for first goal… no complaints on losing game tho we didnt even play the frist half. same thing as city game. i dunno what wenger says to them at half times but they come out and dominate. why cant we do that in first half?…

and mertesacker needs to be benched… horrible defending lately today was worst ive seen him.

  • Reza

    @Jellykid
I’m not one of those who wants AW’s head but let’s be clear, everyone at the start of the season knew that we needed, a holding midfielde. We couldn’t rely on Diaby. AW should have worked on it before the season started or at least the whole December to identify someone. We sold the best striker on earth and his replacement couldn’t score a clear cut chance last night. Baracy Sagna is finished for me. He is so demoralised and indifferent. Have you seen a single cross from him lately ? In both goals last night he was out of position. In one occaasion he missed the ball in Chelsea’s half and didn’t bother to track it back he was walking and watching to see what would happen. At least Jenkinson cares. Look at second goal, nobody marked Ramires, where was our right back!? For Ramires it was waling in a park. If only we had Cahill or Ba last night! Our defence is shambolic and lacks pace. Torres outpaced both TV and Per, we were just lucky that Torres is as sloppy as our defenders. We don’t have any subs who can come in and make an impact. What did Arshavin do last night? Our squad has no dept and Arsene still things he has a balanced and complete squad. There are a few fighters in the teams who care, others are dissillusioned. I don’t think we can make top four this season because Spurs have a far better squad, also Everton is still up there. Liverpool are catching up as well. This is a doom and gloom season. This is too late to add players because I’m afraid it’s gonna be panic buy.

  • Reza

Sorry for typo “Arsene still thinks” …

  • mobeen

Hi positive guy here… Watched the game the whole 95 minutes of it… Vince lombardi said “We didnt lose, we just ran out of time”… The same was true for our performance… we were piss poor in the first half… The referee got two dodgy decisions and we conceeded two goals… Ba could have scored the third and the arguement would have been muted… Anyways we didn’t play to the whistle… we could have done better… we didnt… we lost… Spu*s drew with ManUre (at white heart lane)… we beat spu*rs… so we should be top of the summit? i dont think football works like that…
it was 3 dropped points… we had decent second half… need some rotation in the squad, cazorla needs a break, cocquelin had a few good moments (but arteta is missed), wilshire too although didnt quite have the impact like the last game… diaby and arshavin are rusty… hopefully padolksi and rosicky can add a little more depth to the squad… hoping to see a striker, a DM and a decent defender added to make arsenal contenders…
We have 7 long term prospects (including chesney) secured. Any addition to the squad can only add to the AFC… FFP or not we are likely to be contenders next few seasons…

  • Sufian

@ konvict, Vermaelen wasn’t benched when he was playing as horrible as Squillaci, I don’t get why will you want Per to be benched just after 1 performance in which he didn’t outshone Vermaelen (since the start of the season)? Btw, Verm has been horrible and it was Per who saved the blushes for us. He like the player but he’s not playing the way we all know he can.

@Reza, I agree with couple of things you said, but definitely not with the Sagna one. I do agree, though, that he didn’t have a good game and that Jenkinson should be played instead. But to say he’s finished is too harsh. As I had said before, Wenger doesn’t rotate players when he should be (to keep them at their toes and sometimes give them a breather).

  • Reza

    @Sufian
I really hope he’ll prove me wrong! He’s not the same player he used to be before his injury. At the moment we need someone who can cross. We had Giroud in the box we could at least trying long crosses as plan B in the dying moments. I was really gutted seeing Sagna losing the ball and instead of trying to take it back, he was walking on the pitch and watching to see if a miracle would happen. If only some of our players had the same fighting spirit as Manu players. Chelsea was beatable last night if we were that sloppy in the first half.

  • Sufian

@Reza, totally right, Chelsea only won because of our horrible first half. If Wenger uses his magical words of half-time in his pep-talk, things may get better. It can’t be a coincidence that this season our 2nd half is better than the first.
Sagna needs rest, he just came back and hasn’t been up to his level. It happens with every player, it happened with Eboue but the fans respect Sagna so it’s not gonna happen. Wenger has to realise these things, he’s over-using and burning out the players.

  • Sufian

(typos in my post before last)
    *outshine
    *I like the player

  • Sam

I agree with everything mobeen and reza have said. I will also add that we need more players simply because we don’t have the depth in our squad. Wenger says that he doesn’t like buying in the January transfer window and that he has a strong enough squad – the latter has been proven untrue time and again this season, and as for buying in January, maybe any new players won’t add a huge impact immediately, but they will add depth, give us tactical options and let’s face it, this season is over so let’s get some new blood in now so they’re already settled by the start of the next campaign. Furthermore, Wenger needs to make at least one or two purchases just to show a commitment to the successful future of the club and to the fans who pay the highest ticket prices in the country and still turn up week in, week out to watch a mid-table team and without whom we wouldn’t have this money available for transfers. This team does have potential, but if we want to compete with the big boys it needs strengthening and there is no time to be lost.

  • Sam

Addition: Sometimes I feel Arsene doesn’t want to hurt his players’ feelings by rotating the squad and leaving out his best players – but look at ManUre – Ferguson regularly leaves out players who many Arsenal fans would kill to have in our starting line-up, and I don’t hear them complaining about not getting games! Rotation is part of the game at the highest level these days, you can’t rely on players like Cazorla to play out of their skin twice a week, that won’t save us. He shouldn’t even be scared to drop Vermaelen if he’s not performing, even if he is the captain (and in my opinion it should be Chesney or Arteta anyway, with a view to Wilshere taking the armband in a couple of years).
    OK, rant over…

  • mofaz

@Sam ..Arsene cannot rotate players because Arsenal dont have the depth of quality players to rotate ..Drop Vermaelen replace with Kos ? ..Drop Gibb replace with Santos ?

  • mofaz

Bayern must be sharpening the knives to cut Arsenal to pieces next month..

  • Reza

I was just watching a few youtube videos of Arsenal’s goals and matches from 1997 upto Cesc’s era. What fighters we used to have! Quality was dripping from those teams and players. What happened to Arsenal and Arsene! Why are we so dismal and low these days? Just look at Parlour run in 1997/1998 season match against ManU. As if he’s fighting for his life. Apart from Jack, who in this team has the same love for theis club. Sir Alex would hang some of these players if they were in ManU. How come a defender loses the ball and does not track it back.

  • Sufian

@mofaz, you mean if a player is in terrible form, he should be allowed to stay in the team? Probably Vermaelen fanboy. Get real, average Kos isn’t as bad as out of form Vermaelen, anyway.

  • Sufian

@Reza (“How come a defender loses the ball and does not track it back”), it’s probably the problem with the defensive training. In pre-Koschielny era it was a very very common thing. Kos and Chamakh added that fighting spirit to the team but now they have lost that slowly. I’d blame the coaches for allowing this to happen.

  • konvict

@Sufian… it was Per who didnt track his defender on both goals. you cant play well for part of the game. both times he didnt see the player behind him and thats not good enough. i rate him as a defender same as i do verma and kos- but all 3 make mistakes that cost us points. big clubs cannot have that but theyre all great defenders overall. makes me wonder if soemthing is weird with arsenals defensive training cos our defenders are great individually but teamwork apaprently isnt there and hasnt been for years now.

i agree with your last comment possibly blaming coaches for letting the “fighting spirit” fall off recently… we will never know for sure anyways

i think our only must buy right now is a proven goalscorer/playmaker to assist cazorla out. we can make do with rest of squad. one more playmaker and good finisher and we will create far more chances

  • Sam

@Konvict: I would add a proven solid defender or defensive midfielder to that, but I agree that as an offensive team our focus has to be on scoring more than the other team and goals will always be conceded with our style of play, therefore a goalscorer is the key thing we miss right now.

@Reza: I agree with what you guys are saying, the dedication is not there as it used to be. If you watch a video of the invincibles on Youtube, you will see the difference – yes they made it look effortless and flowing, but if you watch closely, they fought for every loose ball, ran their legs off just on the off-chance of keeping a 50/50 ball in play, tracked back when they lost it etc. That is the difference between the past and the current team, not the skill level. Arsene says the players care. He should also watch that video and ask himself again if that is really true…

  • Sufian

@Sam, Wenger over-protects his players, but the fact is they aren’t kids anymore. Couple of years ago it was alright, but not now. And if he thinks players will leave if he tells them the truth, then he should know that they are simply not good enough professionals!
I really feel we should be adding Martin Keown to our defensive coaching. We had an efficient and hardworking defence in 2007/08.

  • mofaz

Arsenal was 13 points behind Spuds last season and look what happened, just saying its not that bad this time around …

  • http://gnostradamus.com Gnostradamus

“Arsenal was 13 points behind Spuds last season and look what happened”

Play with fire long enough and you’ll get burned. We’re getting incinerated this season.

  • Clinton Dawkins

    Three facts:

    1. Need new players.
    2. Strict wage structure at the club.
    3. Humongous wage bill at the club.

    I don’t understand it.

  • Sufian

@Clinton Dawkins, also add to the list “retain players which won’t be put on the field” such as Squillaci, Chamakh, Arshavin, Frimpong (send him out on loan already!). I bet all of the players, bar Squillaci, will have atleast couple of suitors. Glad that Chamakh has gone to West Ham, he simply was dropped because of brilliance of RVP.
