Arsenal vs Sunderland Highlights 0-2 (FA Cup)

Not a single fuck was given today. Nothing but the fourth spot to play for, and maybe it’s better we don’t get it so this season is properly qualified as being a failure. Last thing we want is for something to remotely justify Wenger’s continued stubbornness. Best to acknowledge how poor we are and then go about doing something about it, than just putting out the same players out there over and over again, and expecting different results.

  1. nickesh says:

i was excited with the lineup except for fabi….excited as alex c starts n walcott is in sub, his energy will be useful in 2nd half….then came in the injury which brought in the worst defender, squil….Fingers crossed we can win this

  2. 444 says:

Fuck Arshavin, he loses the ball every time he got it!…

    …oops, it’s not him, it’s Gervinho… at least, his workrate is fine…

  3. grumpyoddman says:

seriously, the passes were like… just awful. Djorou’s like…. usual. No improvement from last midweek so far

  4. 444 says:

It is not that bad, considering the team has no couch at all.

  5. Sufian says:

Djouru is better at right-back than at centre-back. However, Miguel is even better defender. I don’t know why he isn’t in the squad. :-S

  6. 444 says:

Djouru is better at bench-back. About Miquel, some inside said that Wenger had forgot about him.

  7. 444 says:

    ARRRSHAVIN OUT!!!

  8. Srikanth says:

YES!!! out of FA cup as well, awesome. Screw Arsene Wenger and Arsenal, every year the same story, do well till Feb in May end up nowhere.

  9. nickesh says:

very very hard to see this

  10. Sufian says:

Did SAF appoint the ref for today? I am not watching the match now. Useless. :|

  11. Sufian says:

@444, sometimes I think Squillaci is better than Djouru, but that’s deciding lesser confused of the two confused defenders. :-S

  12. KeepTheFaith says:

Good game, great work rate from everyone!

    Unlucky with both the goals!

    Season finished

At least we will win the TFC trophy!

    No more faith

    Onwards to my comrades training

    Ps THF=thanks for coming

  13. gunner says:

Not a single player played well. Not rvp or sagna or song. NO ONE.

  14. Alex says:

Arsene out… I hope Ramsey stays out for a while… He is terrible… This will give room for Yosi or Arshavin to play in the midfield.
The substitutions were just terrible… We have the worst manager in England… You would think that after getting our asses handed to us at Milan he would make some type of strategic changes.. modify the formation… something… NOTHING!

Every team in the world knows how to beat us because we ALWAYS PLAY THE SAME FUCKING WAY… How this joke of coach IS GETTING PAID 6 MILLION POUNDS IS BEYOND ME…. I will be taking a break from Arsenal & the forum… See you all in August

  15. a.k.a gunner says:

    there goes our title hopes!

  16. 444 says:

Alex: this will NOT give a room for Arshavin, because Wenger hates him for Arshavin can prove Wenger wrong.

  17. gooner says:

    fucking suderland
    they fucking cheat
    too many fouls from them
i used to respect suderland but now…….

  18. gooner says:

    so many cheating players
we were playing so good then coq went off…

  19. a.k.a gunner says:

    well summed up Arsenalist.

We don’t need the fourth place trophy. It’s useless if we don’t have any ambition.

This season was about giving Arsene the last chance to prove us wrong & get us a title.

What a waste…. 7 million pounds a year for delivering disappointment.

    This is a joke!

Get the guy out & bring someone in who ain’t interested in profits.

  20. gunnerforlife says:

Sunderland fought hard and got wat they deserved. Arsenal…sadly are on the slide down. Stupid back passing..they do it in every game! Inviting pressure onto them selves. I really dono how many stupid loses like this does it have to take for Arsene Wenger to learn his lesson. Weak.Predictable.Shit.

  21. Alex says:

    @444
    I think you are wright…
Did anyone catch the moment when the camera focused on Yossi and he was shaking his head, when Arsene decided to put Walcott in??? He knew what was about to happen… The Arsene experiment failed… buy some real players… I am tired of heating this we support ourselves bullshit.. there is money… the club has money… why is it not being spent?? How is it that even the Spuds invest more money in their squad than we do.. they don’t have billionaire owners.. we make way more money than they do, why can’t we?

  22. Alex says:

Arsene is not a manager… HE IS A SCOUT… did anyone notice that instead of giving his team instructions on how to play he just spent the second half yelling at the 4th official… which BTW – WHAT THE FUCK DOES A 4TH OFFICIAL DO? COMPLETELY USELESS….
I do agree that the referring was shit.. our players got manhandled.. but I blame that on Arsene cuz he should have seen that coming… that is how every team is playing against us now. pressuring the shit out the midfield

  23. aviness says:

Why the hell did we build a big-ass stadium when we are going to spend LESS money with MORE income? What, are we going to payoff the stadium in one-go? Why not have a long term view and invest a little in the squad, so we can stay potent for a longer time?

How can this squad be called Arsenal squad? Is our expectation SO LOW that we have to be content with a 4th placed finish?

  24. KeepTheFaith says:

Haha Alex, do you really think removing Wenger will be good for the club? I fear we will see him get fired in the next month, I hope I’m wrong! Removing Wenger will see the foundation of this club (young talent) fall apart! The club is about 13 years in front of Man City with regards so producing young talent!

My fear for Arsenal in the next 3 months:

    1. We know now we are out of all titles, but I fear the knock on effect will be fast! I think we will struggle in the league now! I think 4th will slip away now… We will have our usual fall away…
    2. RvP will leave, Walcott will leave, Yossi will not re-sign, Shava will leave, Rosicky will leave etc…
    3. Wenger will get fired/resign, I believe! That will be very bad for the club! We will struggle to re-enter top 4 next year…
    4. The board will not take any blame on themselves and therefore, new manager or old manager, no change will be seen at arsenal!
    5. Arsenal fans will turn on the team again! My guess, it will start against Tot next week!

All in all, it is yet another dark day in Arsenal history… I hope the team will have a brilliant game against milan and go threw on penalties! But that is a thought for “dream land”!

  25. 444 says:

Alex: right a nail in the head. It’s ridiculous to watch him waiving his hands for 4th official, instead of pointing his finger to his players.

  26. GUNNER says:

Johan Djourou: “You will see the best of me now”.
[we have seen enough of u, fuck off]
    http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/djourou-you-will-see-the-best-of-me-now
SE THIS IS WHAT DJOUROU SAID PRE SANDERLAND MATCH. ” YOU WILL SEE THE BEST OF ME NOW” DID YOU GUYS SO THE BEST OF HIM??
PLEASE COMMENT ABOUT THIS, AM SICK OF ARSENE WENGER AND HIS FLOPS. IT IS JUST SAME STORY EVERY YEAR, BOORING. SUMMER: WENEGR BUYS A KID, THEN BE SILENT THE WHOLE SUMMER, SELL THE BETTER PLAYERS, AND IN DEAD LINE DAY HE BUYS CRAP PLAYERS. COME TO JANUARY HE SAYS WE DON’T NEED ANY ONE IN THE SQUAD, FEBRUARY AND MARTCH ARSENAL LOSES DOSEN MATCHS AND GO T 4TH, LOSE THE FA, CARLING AND FA CUP. EVERY ARSENAL FAN CURSES WENGER AND THEN IT STARTS AGAIN IN SUMMER , THE SAME SHIT YEAR IN YEAR OUT AND SOME CLOWN FANS STILL SAYS IN WENGER WE TRUST!

  27. 444 says:

GUNNER: I’m afraid we all seen the best of JD now. It’s really the best he can do, although not what expected from Arsenal player.

  28. Gooner says:

Totally agree with u Alist! I felt the same last season.. i din want them to finish fourth n look what happened? He din even buy players till the trashing at ManU

I’m sorry but Wenger needs to go.. i know most of u don like that idea but think about it without talking shit about years ago.. he was a great manager then but the dynamics of the league have changed now.. his stubbornness has lead us nowhere..

  29. Koolio says:

LOL The commentator was saying after Ramsey got a knock “He seems to be struggling, just a little too slow and cant seem to find the clear pass to get the front clear”, and I was thinking, Nope thats just ramsey.

  30. GUNNER says:

am gutted man!!! i would have wished to see samba,Jan Vertonghen, hazard, gotze, padolski or MILIVOJE NOVAKOVIC, m’villa.may be baines
    out:
squallici, djourou, aluminia, diaby, ramsey, denelson. bendthner, chamackh, and park.

  31. Einareen says:

Stop blaming and start supporting you idiots! You are an utter disgrace you are. Stupid fans, you dont know shit. Wenger HAS to stay. Without him, it wont be Arsenal anymore, and no “true” fan would want to stay at this club anymore. Fuck off wannabes. Leave already before you force Wenger to.

  32. Arschloch says:

You can not believe. I am a gunner deeply with my heart and soul. I am glad that we have such a miserable season. For the stupidity of Mr. Wenger we are now at this point. Two best player wanted to leave, you don´t want to replace them and the third one injured and not tell the truth about it. After being dumped 8 : 2, you make panic buy, then came the winter window, instead of strengthening now you buy a kid to grow up in the chicken farm. Do not get me wrong those player are still with great potential. The problem is that AW continues to make many tactical errors and I think he is not any more capable of guiding and leading them to glory. RVP can understandably join another club, what a pity! I would not stay where no glory to reach. Age is too short in the game. The timid economic profit system of Mr. Wenger applied a great damage to Arsenal and surely it is going to destroy this great club. Enough Wenger out.

  33. DKX99 says:

All those complaining about not buying established stars, have you considered that players do not want to move right now, especially European players who want to make sure they are in their Euro team? Buying players is a two way process you know.

  34. Koolio says:

I dont understand, I have been watching football for 20 years and following Arsenal. What part of the transfer market not being open does people not understand?

  35. FU2 says:

Totally agree with Arschloch, and feel sorry for the “true” fans, as they call themselves. They will wait forever for a piece of joy that they will be promised many more times with Wenger aboard.

  36. Saad says:

What a disaster. We can’t even beat bloody Sunderland. With Tottenham and Liverpool next we’ll easily tumble out of the top four and have nothing to play for from then on.

It’s not like we can get rid of Wenger either.. who’ll replace him?

  37. Gooner says:

Why does every1 equate wanting Wenger out to not being a “true” fan? Sometimes its common sense to realize that the man has indeed committed many mistakes..

Of course I do think its tough to actually have a fair opinion coz we are not really aware if the board is actually causing many of these problems..

  38. a.k.a gunner says:

All those you support Wenger…. Fuck off! you guys think we should keep him… After seven years of putting up with his bullshit. Forget the titles…. if he had atleast stopped lying to the fans, we would be happy… i tell you what he is a big hypocrite… here’s why:

“fabregas & nasri is going nowhere” … (that’s what he told us 2 weeks before they transferred), “judge me in may” (when we fucked up everything, he seems to have forgotten about this), “we don’t need a defender, we already have lots of defenders” (and they announce vermelean is out long term injured at the close of last year’s january transfer window & we screw the season again), “that we will have a very ‘active’ transfer window” last summer (which didn’t happen until we got thrashed by manu. If wenger stays in charge, he’ll do the same again this year)…

For those of you who are wenger fans, if he goes, you can go & support him & whichever club he manages again… Arsenal fans will support our club & whoever comes in. Wenger & Arsenal are not inseparable. We want change of guards. At least a new face would make some fans happy.

  39. a.k.a gunner says:

I don’t understand we people can’t think beyond wenger. That man has lost it. He’s out of his mind & far too stubborn to make a sensible decision. And he’s obsessed with profit making. We want a real manager in. Say one big thank you & get him a taxi.

As for who can replace him, there are plenty of options avaible. David Moyes took Everton into champions league with a fraction of what Arsene had & he does such a good job with them even when club is deep deep trouble. Just one suggestion though.

Guys … get over wenger. You are supporting the club not one man.

It’s all about the club. And one thing, we don’t know the board is making him do this. All the statements he made never gave a hint of that.

And even if we beat Spurs, it doesn’t make a difference.

    In Arsene we rust!

  40. otniel says:

This is so f***ed up! That’s it! Anyone who wants to say keep positive?

  41. mofaz says:

Its for the best that Arsenal is out from both CL and FA cup because the further we progress and get knocked out in the semi or lost the final like last years Carling cup the more the hurt it causes. Simple fact Arsene has failed to instill the winning mentality into the players, the desire to win at all cause which is sadly lacking amongst the players. They are good at passing the ball, good technically but when push comes to shove the players just crumbled. Both games exposed the poor tactical thinking of Arsene, why not play defensively and go for a draw and a replay at the Emirates where home advantage and better pitch which suits Arsenal’s game..4th place i’m afraid is out too. Why ? Because Chelsea wants it more than Arsenal ..and Arsenal lacks the winning mentality..

  42. mofaz says:

Arsene’s substitution effectively made Arsenal playing 10 vs 11 because Walcott didnt participate in the game ! Seriously the image of Arsene complaining to the 4th official as if it would chance anything is just pathetic ..instead of shouting instruction to the players. Arsene has lost his winning touch he should be promoted to Football director and Pat Rice should just quit and take a long vacation. Bring in a young manager with hunger for success.

  43. mofaz says:

    Arsenal vs Spurs … 1 – 4 , the truth hurts..

  44. dawdler says:

Demoralizing. I usually just read but under these circumstances, I am compelled to commiserate with fellow Gooners. Yet, I can’t help but wonder what will come of it?

It is strange to be wavering between moments of madness, where I both curse Wenger for a stubborn mule and sit in awe at the kind of football infrastructure he has built for the club.

I am equally at a loss to fathom how we can by all appearances be so consistently at the frontier in terms of health facilities, work environment and general investment in player well-being, yet suffer nightmare after nightmare each season in terms of injuries. Actually it is so garish it is now verging on comical, really.

If I try and be practical about it, I am not sure ‘Wenger Out’ will solve anything. The truth is I trust him more than the board, and the current majority owner and these would be the people tasked with choosing his replacement. Funny enough the more I think of it, there seems to be a growing similarity between the soulless incessant plodding of Wal-Mart inspired business practice and the repetitive product on the pitch.

It would be a bit of a leap to point solely at any one source of blame, and blame in general serves little purpose. But I do think there is merit in examining the current product on the pitch and the ‘modus operandi’ enforced from on high.

Something that sticks out in this weeks Arsecast comes from monsieur Auclair’s observation at how alone Wenger seems to be in terms of accountability. It seems he is running everything, and I wonder, it that has to do with a similar kind of cost cutting, or unwillingness to spend on support staff, that we find on the pitch?

Is this down to Wenger refusing help? Or being dedicated to the club and refusing to acknowledge that they expect him to deliver without that help? Or at least to get by with cheaper knock-offs of the kind of re-investment needed to remain a top club…

I am reluctant to say Wenger has lost the plot. When it seems to me he is simply working way too many story lines. Tongue planted in cheek I see the weariness in his face of any other overworked Wal-Mart employee.

I am not an Usmanov proponent but I am of the opinion it is time we vocally question whether present ownership truly understand what it means to run Arsenal FC? This is not just another “entity” on paper that can be assessed by numbers, and at the moment, I believe in the eyes of some crucial figures, we are nothing more than the above.

  45. Hersh says:

I had supported Wenger so far until now. This is it. He must leave unless he’s willing to spend on new players. This squad is just not good enough. Hell no

  46. GUNNER says:

why do you think Arsenal bought 4 players and 1 on loan? it’s all not the shock lost of manu, but if you remember a little bit, then you will remember hoe many fans where in the staduim? not more than 1000 arsenal fans were on the staduim after manu game. the less fans come the less Arsenal earns. and it make the board to buy new players in order to keep the fans come and support. believe me or not, wenger wanted song, ramsey and rossisky,
arsenal has lost fear factor they use to have, winning mentallity, phisicall strength,

  47. rvp14 says:

i lost my faith in wenger after his interview, he said that we gave everything,( this might be true) and that squallici, ramsey and coquellin are injured. coquellin was injured which is true but squallici was not injured, he was subbed coz he was defending awful, every moment the ball comes in the air, he couldn’t control it, every moment he defends they go passed him, verminator and sagna saved us yesterday. djourou he is a championship level player, while squallici is more like, local team player, as for ramsey, he was out of ideas and he is not near the cesc level. he must go to other mid table teams and he was not injured, he was subbed coz he sucked.
arsenal must offload 10 players and buy other 10 players. if they are going to win something. fabiansky was ok, and he was tested 3 times and they scored twice.

  48. rvp14 says:

Kroenke was estimated to be worth $US 3.2 billion by Forbes in 2011.

Alisher Burkhanovich Usmanov (born 9 September 1953, Chust, Namangan Province, Uzbek SSR, USSR) is an Uzbek-born Russian business magnate. According to the 2011 edition of Forbes magazine, the oligarch is one of Russia’s richest men, with a fortune estimated at US$17.7 billion, and the world’s 35th richest person.[1]

  49. Arschloch says:

    @Mofaz
well said, what has become of you. Now you speak words of wisdom :-) . Totaly agree.

    @dawdler

I think AW has the absolute freedom to spend or not, but holds to his old ways and wants to prove the world wrong. Do you remember ” If I signed Viera ? Toure ? I would have killed Diaby and Denilson ” Now they have let him down.
The game has changed and Mr. Wenger is not compatible economically as a manager and cannot cope with new technique and make right decisions AD HOC as a trainer.
He has some right visions as a planner and the right style of a HR head. That may enable him now to participate in managing the reserves.

  50. Arschloch says:

    @dawdler

I am afraid Arsenal owners even have short term ambitions. The revenues will be next year at the bottom (no CL and decrease of season tickets holders no attractive events, …etc), their reaction will be selling their shares. A chance for a new sixpence start??

  51. Arschloch says:

May be they they will use Emirates Stadium as a touristic attraction :-/ .

  52. Arschloch says:

    “Emirates Stadium RUIN” appropriately.

  53. Arschloch says:

“their reaction will be selling their shares”

Sorry! of course at the right time before the collapse.

  54. dubbledubs71 says:

i could build a team out of lego & it would still have more character that the current squad. keep schnezy santos vermaelen gibbs sagna frimpong coqellin wilshire song ox-chamberlain rvp, and ship the rest as they are nowhere near good enough to represent arsenal. i dunno who is to blame anymore the board or wenger but maybe it is time for a change in manager. if there had been any signs of improvement in the years without a trophy it may not be so bad but its wenghog day over & over again. the team is too predictibe with no plan b for whenever teams rough them up & stop them from playing the way they do, sit back soak it up & counter attack. louis van gaal is every bit as good a manager & has achieved as much as wenger. him as manager with steve bould as no2 is my choice a defensive coach as no2 is essential as the team need to learn how to defend 1st and foremost & let wenger move upstairs & play with his calculator

  55. Gnostradamus says:

DX99, why do you think no great players will come to the club now? Could it be that they’ve seen how we sell our best players and buy almost unknowns? Could it be that we’ve not won anything in 7 seasons running? Could it be that the manager makes the worst subs possible that lose the game? Could it be that our stated goal from the boardroom to the manager is to make TFP and 1-2 million profit? That it’s ok not to win trophies?

  56. Mofaz says:

If you are an unknown player but a good player both skillful and technically good , Arsenal is the perfect club for you, Arsene will buy you at a relatively low price, but you’d be immediately thrown in to the lime light because the English media loves to write anything about Arsenal both good and bad ( especially the bad) ..you then show off your skills in the league and in Europe you immediately becomes a hot property and eventually a rich club will come after you ..it happened with Nasri, Hleb etc

  57. Mofaz says:

Walcott is a player that epitomize the Wenger philosophy he was brought in as young player and full of hopes and potential. Unfortunately he failed to deliver and his failure reflect the failure of Wenger core ideas. Hopefully OC doesnt ends up like TW.

  58. DKX99 says:

Gnostradamus, I agree with you with respect to the degrading image of Arsenal contributing to no great players coming in, but I would argue that this is a recent factor, only visible after the debacle in February last year when Arsenal showed that they lacked the mentality to win the Carling cup. However, in my opinion, the Euros is as important a factor for this season. I seriously do believe that Podolski would have joined Arsenal in the January window had the Euros not been on. And we must all agree that Podolski is an established name.

But even withstanding that period, we still managed to sign Gervinho, a guy who left the French champions Lille to join us. I don’t know about other people but for me that was an established star signing. Many people may not follow the French league (I admit follow it very little) but to win a championship and cup in the same year is an outstanding achievement and not done by average players. Gervinho is more the finished product than Nasri was when he initially joined.

I guess the point I am trying to make is that to stop the continuous rut of the year past, the team needs more time and continuous, reasonable investment. The late and untimely loss of the spine of the team in the summer put the team back several years and the Euros hampered efforts in the January transfer market to reverse that rut.

  59. Arschloch says:

    @ a.k.a gunner
You have taken the words out of my mouth.
bet next transfere window the chronology wil be sequentially:
We do not need new signings, we have Diaby and Wilshire back. We are not going to replace Van Persey, Shamach and Park look very sharp.

  60. Ofebs says:

    the solution is simple…

in every game henceforth, the fans should hold large banners reading ‘KROENKE OUT – USMANOV IN’. ManU and Liverpool fans did it – this is the time for Arsenal fans to turn their backs against the board…

  61. Alex says:

@Koolio – You said it brother… It is exactly what I been saying for the past few months…

@Einareen – Shut up you bum… Wenger has done great, and we are truly grateful… but nobody can stay on the top forever… the old has to make way for the new… His stubbornness and unwillingness to adapt to the modern game has cost us too dearly… we should have won the league by now… we have come very close just to see the team fail.. and let’s not forget that Wenger inherited the best defense in the EPL from George Graham’s reign…

BTW- Does anyone remember that interview in which Fabregas complained that Wenger did not provide any tactical tips, but he did get them from Del Bosque while training for Spain…he said Wenger didn’t train on defense… He didn’t have a tactical or technical plan… he didn’t “COACH” his team… His philosophy is pick some players form the squad and have them play and see what happens… No video preparation, no analyzing the opponents weaknesses… ARE WE REALLY GOING TO MISS HIMS THAT MUCH? I DON’T THINK SO…

  62. Alex says:

@dawdler – “I am reluctant to say Wenger has lost the plot. …Tongue planted in cheek I see the weariness in his face of any other overworked Wal-Mart employee.” WOW! Very nicely written… I take it you must be a writer… Lovely contribution… You do bring a valid point… The board are the ones primary to blame, but they are accountable just to Kronke.. It is amazing how they keep trying to block Usmanov from having a seat at the board, a guy who owns more than 29% of the club… One must wonder what kind of dirty secrets are they hiding

@Arschloch – hahaha yeah… I guess the Emirates would be a nice museum for people to see what greatness used to be like… or maybe a killer site for a new Wal-Mart

  63. Disappointed says:

Top 4 finish will be our trophy… loser mentality… Fergie will be laughing his head off… so will Redknap and the Spuds…

What an insult to Arsenal FC…

  64. Disappointed says:

    Great article Alex!

  65. Henry says:

If you actually look at the reactions from other coaches in England, from SAF to Martin Neil they all still believe Wenger has earned his job security. The reason why he is so respected is how much he works compared to other coaches, the comments about throwing him out are dangerous. There are no top tier coaches available whom can come in easily because the Arsenal job is not an easy one.
You’d be coming into a league where there are multiple contenders and many dangerous clubs with no winter break(Big factor imo). You’re also expected to play on a standard that is attractive above other clubs while maintaining a winning mentality. Football managing is also a short term gig on average, where it is difficult to hold a dynasty without considerable support.
That is why if we are to replace Wenger, the day that happens he would be replaced by a risky manager not one of the same prestige. (Guardiola although a highly attractive acquisition has no real reason to leave Barcelona other than ‘ i want a tough challenge).

So to just throw out Wenger is a bad idea. If i were to advise the board it would be to look for a replacement/successor in the coming months now so the transition would be easier when inevitably Wenger retires/moves on.

Does that mean we shouldn’t be frustrated with Wenger? no by all means this season is a failure. But to say ‘ sack Wenger’ ? i’d would not even consider such until theres a replacement.

In every aspect of the club Arsenal, from the medical aspect to the tactical aspect to the staff support aspect to the players the club needs to be improved and upgraded without replacing things. The issue is that the club sell and replace when frankly we need to just build without losing our foundations. Fabregas was a pillar, Nasri was a pillar, Van Persie is a pillar and Wenger is a pillar.

It is down to everyone at Arsenal, to stop knocking down our strengths at the end of the season and instead keep building.

  66. googoo says:

pls don’t blame arsenal players….ox really bad today and o.g and djuory’s foul gone goal and ramsey i hate him on pitch but i don’t want blame them because they r wearing arsenal shirt and i really love this team

  67. Gnostradamus says:

    DX99,

“I guess the point I am trying to make is that to stop the continuous rut of the year past, the team needs more time and continuous, reasonable investment.”

Whereas the board and manager continue to believe in the selling mode, wishing to make profits year after year. I think it’s wise when the Fair Play regulations come into full effect, but I have doubts about whether billionaire clubs will allow that to even happen, ever. Not buying anyone in January for at least two years, when everyone could see the team wouldn’t last through winter on injuries alone, is what contributed to the collapse of the youth project. I for one was in full support of it but we needed just that one or two players last season to secure multiple trophies. What difference would that have made.

“The late and untimely loss of the spine of the team in the summer put the team back several years and the Euros hampered efforts in the January transfer market to reverse that rut.”

That happened precisely of the miserly purse strings, the wish of owners to make profits rather than winning trophies. Star players would not want to play in teams with no ambitions to win.

And good luck to doing that when RvP leaves. Don’t tell me we’ll get another genius. Those days are long gone.

Your heart’s in the right place, but I see all the problems coming from one root cause, which is killing the club. And no sane star players would join the club with such dismal results and lack of ambition.

  68. Disappointed says:

Fergie is leaving management on a high… Wenger will probably leave as a Wanker… unless he decides to change his mindset…

Gnostradamus: I agree with you “no sane star players would join the club with such dismal results and lack of ambition.”

  69. Disappointed says:

Arsenal still has the ability to cause Fear on others… except that it is not on their opponents but on their supporters…

  70. GUNNER says:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmDdn2kTnRs only thoese stars must remain in the club.

  71. a.k.a gunner says:

    @GUNNER

    hey nice vid man!

  72. a.k.a gunner says:

didn’t Arsenal sign some kid by the name Thomas Eisfeld this january transfer window.

    I wonder how’s he like.

  73. GUNNER says:

Arsenal failure is the quality of the players, spending power, and even the back heel pass that costs as a lot of matchs and the championsleague last year. I feel sorry for Arsenal and I wish of the better days and i would love Arsenal to sell the flops and buy class players, remember if we use 75mill now on star players, we don’t even need to spend alot in the comming 3-5 seasons, we can just develop our own players and the stars will keep the fear factor, once a player became flop it’s just to sell him and replace him by another star. WE DON’T NEED TO BE A FOOTBALL ACADAMEY WHERE WE DEVELOP AND SELL PLAYERS BUT WE CAN BE A TEAM FULL OF STARS AND QUALITY YOUTH PLAYERS.
ARSENAL this week has been splitted into many branches because of the flop players who play like they r in 2nd divition.

  74. Sufian says:

Yes nice video there, but there are Ramsey haters here too. :P
Seriously speaking, Wenger has to admit his mistakes, not to us but to himself. Miguel is undoubtedly our 4th best CB (after Verm, Kos and Per). He is a fighter and does all the right things. I haven’t seen him concede any penalty or make a stupid mistake yet. He’s young and is only going to get better with games. Now I also believe purging few players is good, though I hear they are being offered new contracts.

Anyway, I read Hoilet (of Blackburn) is out of contract in the summer and that Arsenal might be interested. This kid is amazing and I always hated it when he get passed out back fours. I think we can get to like him a lot. He can be signed for nothing, so quite an economical signing :P

  75. GUNNER says:

Sufian , Wenger must sell the dead woods, the likes of squalici, djourou, chamackh and the other flops, and if wolves, bolton and blackburn get relegated from epl, then we can bring yacubu, samba, dann hoilet, and flecher. for nothing. and we can add some class players like padolski, hazard and m’villa or diara of OM. then we will have a big squad with plenty of defenders and attack to relay on. but lets just hope arsenal to win on sunday.

  76. Sufian says:

Squillaci definately, djourou most likely but Chamakh? I might differ, though I will probably go on and let Diaby go. Without a doubt he has talent and quality, but maybe even he thinks moving on is a better option (sometimes a change is what is needed).
Which Fletcher you talking about? I hope not that ‘innocent’ Fletcher of ManU. :P

If Pudolski comes in, I would count on Wenger to let RVP go; would hate RVP go though.

So overall, yes some players have to be sold because it only makes things worse. Wenger tries to keep every player happy and we end up messing up our hard fought season. Squillaci’s mistakes had cost us points last and this season as well. Djourou is not a CB, yet he played that in the last 2 games. In the past we had Silvestre who wasn’t a CB, yet he played there. Even Clichy (LB) was defending better than him (in some match against Man City, I think). These things are small but alarming from the manager of such an experience and intellect. I think Mr. Wenger needs to be conveyed this message in sugar-coated words (praise him for his efforts and then mentioning these tiny tactical mistakes to him, rather than media was of ranting and trolling which only worsens the situation).

  77. Sufian says:

Lets hope we get the 3 points now. And lets hope some miracle happen and Miguel is favoured over other CBs (other than Kos and Verm). ;)

  78. farshid says:

is it possible to have the golas of reserve team against norwich?….park an arshavin scored…so i like to see that

  79. GUNNER says:

@Sufian , fletcher of wolves, he can be our 3rd striker, and i saw today two good players who are playing in bad league and team. i don’t remember their names well, but the play for basel. one of the is a midfield player who had number 27. and the other is basel kepper. these two would help us a lot and we can give them djourou and some cash. arshavin is in the radar of zeints for loan deal. i think it’s good for him if we send him for 1-2 month loan deal, if he became good there, so we can sell him by more cash.

Is it true that aresne wenger wants to swap Walcott with sturidge. i think it’s not good bussines. we must atleast get torres for walcott. walcott is out of favour, but Torres can discover his form. sturidge is too gready and if we got sturidge, we won’t have a place for him with ox, miyachi and gervinho ahead of him, may be hazzard, but who know what if torres became the same player as he was in liverpool.
I HOPE WE GET PADOLSKI, AND THE OTHERS I MENTIONED ABOVE

  80. Jellykid says:

    you guys are idiots.

Lets be real about something, If your an arsenal supporter before 1997 and have been supporting them in their past triumphs in the EPL b4 AWs reign then the understandability of you whining about why Arsenal aren’t ever going to win with AW is really vague in a lot of levels.

If you haven’t been that old of a supporter, SUCK A DICK!! ARSENE WENGER IS ARSENAL LITERALLY!!

Having the manager removed is completely STUPID!

To understand what he does at the club besides managing the players is unbelievable. Not even Mourinho or Ferguson can do that. I’m not going to go all detail in why we should back him up…. but after reading the past comments, some idiot posted an article from “goal.com” LOL really?? you want to read American based journalist articles on their “OPINIONS” of what they think about arsenal not winning this year??…

The day AW leave this club is the day you idiots are gonna be either Spurs fans or Man City fans because of the fact Arsenal aren’t going to be the same club anymore.

So, if I joined this stupid bandwagon on how AW should leave the club what am i gonna get out of it??… the fact removing AW would help??… I’ve also read earlier some idiot saying “We should have gotten hazard podolski, m’villa…etc.. ” LOL, so if should have gotten them how come ManU haven’t gotten them???… wait how come Chelsea haven’t gotten them this january..??? .. U can’t just buy who ever you want… even if you had 100 million. its a 2 way process for transfers and Arsenal didn’t have 100 million and the players we wanted weren’t available to get.

I’m just suprised by the idiots commenting in this blog sometimes, even though YES i understand your frustration with our team not winning and YES when we do win you start sucking off them but in the end you aren’t real fans but people who believe anything in an impulse.

@mofaz you think spurs going to win 4-1 then I heard they needed more fans since they’re doing good things this season, why don’t you join some spurs blog. They can use a demented prick like you =D

BTW if anyone’s going to say the reason for all the hating is because of the frustration of losing then, that’s pretty late to mention the fact how I’m reading a lot of dumb comments that aren’t about the fact why we lost but the fact why we don’t need AW.

  81. a.k.a gunner says:

wow that’s a self proclaimed ‘REAL’ fan – Jellykid! Bravo Bravo!

Anymore ‘real’ Wenger (not Arsenal) fans out there?

  82. GUNNER says:

@Jellykid i think all your points are true except that of january transfer. Remember last year on january all the fans were telling wenger to buy just 1 cb, but he told the fans that he got vermalin and kosney and there were enough back up players in the squad. arsenal were best team at that time, we had best midfield, attack and defence, but all the fans knew they needed one cb, because they have seen how disaster djourou was. on february we woon over barca and we had all the defenders, late feburary verminator got injured and we lost all the compitiond we were in. we could have won fa,and carling cup, and we could have been semifinal or final in the uefa, with that squad we had. in summer the same mistake was done by wenger, he let nasri and fabregas go, and he bought just arteta, and both nasri and cesc are not replaced, on january all the fans wants chail, and chelsea got him, and remember mata, chelsea got him.
Who do you think will score goal, if rvp got injured?? why does wenger let cesc and nasri go??? remember redknap refused to sell bale and modric, why do you “Jellykid ” pretend that we have a good squad ?? see every match we play the same players over and over again!! we have a lot of injury problem, why is it? because the players play every single match with out resting. why? because wenger knows that the first 11 are best but none of the subs may be few can replace starting 11.
WENGER IS THE RIGHT MAN FOR THE JOB, BUT WE NEED TO SPEND MONEY, WE GOT 2 RICH OWNERS, AND THE CLUB IT SELF IS RICH, AND TAKE A LOOK AT THE SQUAD THEY GOT, IT MAKES WENGER BEST MANAGER, FERGIE OR ANY OTHER MANAGER COULDN’T MANAGE TOP 4 WITH THIS SQUAD, DJOUROU, SQUALICI, ALUMINIA, DIABY, FABIANSKI, CHAMACKH, PARK, AND OTHERS TO BE NAMED ARE LETTING WENGER DOWN, SO WE TRUST IN WENGER AND THE ONES WHO SAID ABOVE OUT WENGER WANTS HIM, BUT IT IS TIME FOR WENGER TO REALIZE THAT THE AVERAGE AND BELOW AVERAGE PLAYERS TO LEAVE THE CLUB.

  83. Jellykid says:

    @Gunner

BTW Vermalaen was out all season last season, JD had to play majority of the season including the game against Barca which we won. He played his part well but we wanted vermalean back.

I do agree in terms we wanted one new CB and wenger big for Samba but he refused to pay 10 mil for him because blackburn decides to hype the price up. We did have an amazing midfield last season and attack. Our defense wasn’t that bad at all.

We were never going to get Mata, and that’s the fans fault for that. When the news occured “arsenal were interested in Juan Mata” EVERYONE jumped and wanted him on our team. His price was hyped past 25 mil. As much as I wanted mata on our team, He was incredibly expensive for what the ACTUAL SELLING POINT the club at in the beginning of the summer. IDC if chelsea got CAHILL during the january transfer window honestly. We don’t need Cahill!! We chose to buy mertesacker because of the fact we aren’t goign to spend 15 mil on cahill that summer. The only reason Chelsea got him in january is because the fact they offered him above 100,000 weekly wage for him. I highly doubt he’s worth that much but I know for sure Arsenal aren’t going to extend their wage bill for some new CB whose had a an AWFULL season at Bolton.

We actually can have a good squad but its dominated by injuries. Wilshere was supposed to be Fabregas replacement. Song, Wilshere and Ramsey was going to be our midfield. I TRULY believe that would have been an amazing midfield for a young generation. When Nasri left AW could actually give players like Arshavin, AOC and Gervinho a chance.

All I’m saying is I believe this squad can be amazing, when the injuries are gone. Wilshere, Santos and Sub players like Diaby is all we need to rejuvenate the squad back up.

  84. GUNNER says:

i would like diaby to leave with the likes of chamackh, Aluminia, djourou, squallici, fabianski, benouyon*, park*,rossisky*, gibbs*, Arshavin*. the players with this * sign means must be sold if they don’t improve.
i am very affraid that, if Arsenal don’t improve their squad at this summer, then we will be under Tottenham, Liverpool and chelsea. This year summer transfer must be the most serious and important transfer market in Arsenal history. dozen players must step down and other dozen players with class attitude must arrive, if not. we will be struggling to play at europa league, next season premierleague will not be the same, west ham, bermingham and southhampton will be come, all are defficult sides, the middle table teams will invest on good players, qpr, newcastle, need just a couple av signings to be able at top 4 or 5, Liverpool, chelsea and spurs will strength their squad, to able to win the league, but for Arsenal, it all depends on the summer. if wenger act foolishly, we will step down and we will not make it top 5 with this squad.

  85. Sufian says:

Arshavin hasn’t been terrible, though everyone agrees he wasn’t at his best. Before criticizing anyone, it’s intelligent to look for other factors as well, e.g by which players he was surrounded by? Vermaelen at LB who admits that he hates this position. When there was Santos, Arshavin played pretty well.

If Arshavin haters want to whine about Andrey being a useless player, then keep on whining but in case you want the player to improve, stop booing him and say that he isn’t performing at the level he can play. There’s a big difference in both ways, one is to encourage the player to do good while the other is bashing the player for not being too good.

I wonder what will these Arshavin haters say about the assist Andrey gave to Henry (Sunderland game) or the goal he scored against Swansea? (PS: I’m not quoting his achievements of last season like Barca goal, bcoz I don’t intend to bash you).

  86. Sufian says:

@GUNNER, at the purging list, I don’t think Rosicky deserves to be. He had positive impacts (given that Benayoun didn’t play in that game). Arshavin just began to get back his form (Sunderland assist) and nothing changed still. I’m not sure what reason Wenger has but I’m disappointed.

Can’t say Chamakh has been that bad, but if he does well before summer, purging him might not be too good an idea.

Park hasn’t played any games yet, hasty decision it would be.

Benayoun? We don’t have to sell him LOL. However I won’t wish we extend his loan. He’s been terrible apart from that only goal.
