Arsenal vs Manchester United Highlights 1-2

I have now come to full terms with Arsenal finishing out of the top four. I hope it’s sixth, because I have no interest in the Europa League. This game was singlehandedly turned on its head by Arsene Wenger’s insanity-ridden substitution of Oxlade-Chamberlain for Andrey Arshavin. This better be the last time I ever see that fucking useless piece of dross in an Arsenal shirt.

Walcott was predictably shit. Overall I’d say the defense had a decent game, and gave a good account of themselves. Robin missed a very easy chance, but he can be forgiven for that. In general terms, our midfield is lacking, and Ramsey doesn’t look to me as a cog in the solution. We miss Wilshere’s creativity and determination in midfield, and when you compound it with the fact that we have only one real striking option, this game was always ours to lose.

In the end, Man Utd win it because they are the better team.

  1. nickesh says:

any doubt now on why Alex should start ?

  2. Phoenyx says:

Complete domination of United… What a shame at home! We play on the counters!

  3. Gnostradamus says:

Arsenal’s midfield seems even more in need for reinforcements than defense. Totally unable to keep the ball or take advantage of chances.

  4. m'SSAUGA says:

Walcott is not going to Euro 2012….He won’t even make the Olympics team……Just wondering why some Chinese club haven’t made an offer for him……Even with all the hype,he plays like Squillaci

  5. Gnostradamus says:

Oh well. Did anyone expect something different?

  6. gooner says:

oh well, better to concede early than late
all gooners knew it was going to happen. it should 0-3 right now

  7. gooner says:

by the way, i know you @gnostradamus

  8. badama says:

what the fuck is wrong with Ramsey???

  9. Dave says:

And again the difference is shown between our “team” and the big opposition. This is what happens when you DO NOT INVEST PROPERLY IN THE TEAM, instead of skint flinting all the time with 16 year olds with a promising future…..
Worst Arsenal team I have seen since Stewart Houston was in charge.
    Pathetic

  10. Phoenyx says:

I will not endure another humiliation, especially at home. Where is the true Arsenal? Last year, we played almost like Barcelona; now, we are huddled up in our camp and we play like Birmingham…
If there is no improvement in the second half, I will not support Wenger anymore.

  11. Srikanth says:

I hope RVP leaves, he doesnt deserve to play with the likes of WALCOTT!!! Hope he leaves to Madrid or Barca where he can win something.

  12. Dave says:

Agree Phoenyx, I think Wenger is a legend, but he must know now that he cannot buy anelka’s , henry’s and make them goal machines like he used to as football has changed, its all about clout and big investment, sure shout me down, but do we wanna win things again, our rivals are or were challenging for the title ?. Can see this being 2-0, 3-0 and being down to 10 men.

  13. Arschloch says:

Fuck they way they went into 1/2 time implies surrendering.

  14. m'SSAUGA says:

We are not known to be a come back team…this game is slipping away already……Come

  15. Arschloch says:

What a shame! only the wings of MANU are the main part of the their game. What a fuck! How long will we be fucked with a few averge players.

  16. gunner_ks says:

    OX is awesome
    COS as well

  17. Arschloch says:

Superb defending from Coschi. A pass of thousands years experience, deadly Van P.

  18. badama says:

too many negative arsenal fans in here so sad

  19. Arschloch says:

and the fire of youth (AOC), now sell Arshavin.

  20. Gnostradamus says:

Why’s Ox coming off? He’s not fit?

  21. gunner_ks says:

    fuck u wenger terrible change

  22. Arschloch says:

Arsen Wenger is an asshole, fuck! Arshavin.

  23. Arschloch says:

See how clever are the changes of Fergie and how stupid is our manager.

  24. Gnostradamus says:

Seems like Arshavin could’ve subbed for Walcott instead.

  25. nickesh says:

fuck…first he dont even get to the bench…now he cant even finish a game tht we badly need him….Fucking Arshavin better play well

  26. dubbledubs71 says:

1-1 back in the game. come on gunners. we are very much still in it. why take ox chamberlin off when hes playing so well and leave walcott on

  27. benadfsfsaga says:

    PUT THE GOAL UPPP

  28. Arschloch says:

Now I hope Arshavin will save your ass, fuck you Wenger. Get away mother fucker.

  29. ben10 says:

    fucksake

  30. Gnostradamus says:

“too many negative arsenal fans in here so sad”

Too many eternal optimists despite years of evidence.

  31. Phoenyx says:

1-2! Down in the match! Sell Arshavin!!!

  32. gunner_ks says:

if only arshavin would score 2…aaah not even then

  33. dubbledubs71 says:

FOR FUCK SAKE! behind again. talk about shooting yourself in the the foot & reloading. cant stop gifting goals after we get back in the game, and as usual arshavin is to blame, he refuses to track back & try to win the ball back & it costs us time and again aaaaaaaaaaaagh

  34. Einareen says:

Oxlade-Chamberlain is awesome! Loving to see him play.

  35. Arschloch says:

Which manager can defend pulling out a player with better phyical conditon, just made an assist with a lazy poor physics??

  36. Srikanth says:

How can you bring on Arshavin for OX when ox was doing so well and walcott nothing, come on i have lost hope didnt want to watch the match but ended up watching it, what a shame , top four looks really difficult .

  37. gooner says:

    terrible change wenger
    fuck you and arshavin
oh well, at least we only concede 2 goals
    i

  38. gooner says:

i won’t be sad if we lost but i was sad because now i think we lost because of fucking arshavin

  39. Tieneich says:

I have faith in Top 4 finish, but title run is officially finished. At least we know what Ox and Yennaris can do. I miss Santos and Sanga….

Kos and Mert, thank you for keeping us in the game.

Arshavin really doesn’t have a place on this team anymore. However, a round of loud booing really seemed inappropriate when a player comes on. Would you want to play after hearing your own fans against you like that?

That was just a plan terrible substitution and at the worst time, too.

  40. Tieneich says:

Wenger now see the limit of Ox, so he should be getting him in the starting XI every time. Rosicky should also get a start ahead of Ramsey (or at least switch position) once Arteta is back. It’s terrible to see we are “trying things out” when we should be doing our best winning. I also want to see Park more…..

God there are so many on the wish list.

Walcott had another bad game. But Evra owns him every time anyway. We really missed some very good chances though.

  41. montreal gunner says:

I don’t understand why arshevin is still in the team ? really lousy , slow , lazy

  42. M says:

Could you post the footage of the substitution and RVP at the end of the game by any chance?

  43. anonymous_gooner says:

    montreal gunner:

This “lazy” Arshavin fought his man anyway not allowing him to shot after all.

But since when Arshavin became a leftback? Where the brilliant Verminator was at the moment, and who let Welbeck to shot? Is it Arshavin as well?

  44. Arsenalist says:

    Added the sub video.

  45. leli says:

the problem is the board… they are happy with the profits they’re getting… the best thing to do as fans right now to make protests (wanting them to resign and let the club flourish), and us fans not going to the stadium, so their profit will be reduced… THANKS BOARD FOR ALL THAT YOU’RE DOING TO US FANS!!!!

  46. utkarsh says:

There is a lot of talk about RVP’s reaction at the final whistle, what exactly happened any footage of that ?

  47. Arschloch says:

    @ anonymous_gooner

may be you could herar it clearly from the comment, “his determination to defend”. Genaerally the defensive attitude is not only in the resposibility of the full back, and what is the hell are you going now to defend something is as clear as water. Guys like you are the fucking reason why is big mumber of deadwood wears still Arsenal shirt.

  48. anonymous_gooner says:

    Arschloch:

“Genaerally the defensive attitude is not only in the resposibility of the full back”

It was the opposite of any responsibility. Instead, the fullback did fuck all in that episode, he might go fishing as well. What Vermaelen did and where he was, really? Blindly standing in the middle of our area, while Arshavin did his work?

  49. Arschloch says:

    @anonymous_gooner

Pl. recall Valencia´s impact on this game and other MANU games. I am no admirer of Valencia, but I would be happy if Arshavin had 15% of Valencia´s qualities. Even a russian manager admited Arshavin´s little ability to cope with PL. He said ” If you expect Arshavin to run 90 mins then the you don´t know how to use him”. That is the reason why and all Arsenal supporters didn´t understand the meaning of substituation. This game was merely attack, attack, and again attack, and return to defend, something AOC did.

  50. Sir emmanuel brown says:

arsene got it all wrong with the sub of ox.congrats to the ox 4 a splendid performance.

  51. Tieneich says:

It is fair to say that Shava missed badly on the first attempt to lock down Valencia. He did track back afterward though. He already was defending the player and Vermaelaan was marking Park ji-sung at the moment (don’t know why). Verm was largely to blame for the first goal, though I don’t know about this one. Teams have been exploiting out fullbacks (Verm included) and got lots of successes. We need our fullbacks returned, end of story. Per and Kos forms a decent partnership, but they can’t always take the beating after our temporary fullbacks (Verm included) keep making mistakes.

  52. Arschloch says:

At least Wenger admits now his tatical error now.

  53. anonymous_gooner says:

    Arschloch:

You might want to skip this blablabla about russian manager etc., it has nothing to do with the game tonight. My point is: fullbacks are responsible, Arshavin was the only player who really tried and did something in the second goal, all others were mere spectators.

  54. Jellykid says:

WHY DID AOC COME OFF?!! …. HE WAS AWSOME! THE ASSIST ITSELF SPEAKS BUT HE PLAYED SO WELL.

  55. Sir emmanuel brown says:

incredible weekend. Bombo stripped of Sirship and arsene spoils ma weekend by making a very evident mistake of subing the ox. I hope arsene learns from this game

  56. Arschloch says:

    @anonymous_gooner
well said “tried” yes and giving Valencia escort. Was he determind enough?

  57. Thrall says:

Please upload the Van persie Reaction. Walcott trash, ramsey maybe in 2 years, arshavin trash, chamakh trash, . Those cuunts take our team to the bottom.

  58. anonymous_gooner says:

    Arschloch:

What the fuck is that “determined” bullshit?

He didn’t let Valencia to shot after all, what else did you wait from a forward who must defend against Valencia without any help from fullbacks?

  59. Gnostradamus says:

most fans’ anger are misplaced. Arshavin tried to track back and followed Valencia all the way. The problem is we have no one, Vermaelen included, who knows how to play fullback. Well, we do, but they’re all out injured. So the real problem is not getting reinforcements, but merely hoping to hang in there till they come back.

  60. tang says:

regardless of what the ending is, i hope the whole team will help RVP the win the Golden Boots. then he can leave Arsenal without regrets, we owe him too much and we simply do not have any more reasons to hold him back from achieving greater glory.

  61. Ofebs says:

The team is tired – there are many exhausted legs out there. Walcott and Song are showing tired legs. The fullbacks are trying hard but these are center backs playing as fullbacks again and again and again. The squad is not deep or strong enough to give their all every single game…

The club needs to spend big, there is no running away from this fact. RVP will move and he has every right to. The big shots at the club are no more ambitious. The Arsenal bosses lack the hunger of their contemporaries in ManU, Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, Milan…

  62. Arsenalist says:

    Added the final whistle scene

  63. mcurran says:

Maybe you should wait 24 hours to calm down before posting, Arsenalist.

  64. gooner4eva says:

What is Van Persie looking at during the final whistle scenes?

Can’t really figure out but maybe he looking at the referee for booking him of voicing out man utd time wasting antics..

  65. tim says:

No top four. We are not good enough in the mid, and besides RvP and Ox our forwards and wingers are not good enough.

  66. Mofaz says:

Well at least it’s not by a 3 goals margin like what I predicted last week…again it’s arsene’s to blame for his stubbornness to reinforce the team knowing the obvious weakness. But the board don’t care because he’s the only manager that makes money. Draw against Bolton is on the card!

  67. Mofaz says:

Arshavin is a lazy midget, Walcott is footballer wannabe sprinter, he has more chance of selected as a 100m sprinter than a gb football team! Ramsey is too eager to please the manager knowing he is going back on the bench once Wiltshire is back. Arsene is out of touch with reality the fans can see the problem but he can’t.

  68. Mofaz says:

Van Persia was looking for his agent after the final whistle ..please get me out of this club and call Barcelona ASAP!

  69. Alex says:

This just proves what I have been saying all along… except for a few players, this team is shit… the manager is senile old man that needs to retire… I’m not going to repeat the obvious… but RamSHITey is awful… if you watch again, you’ll notice that when we started playing good in the 2nd half is because he wasn’t involved in the play… I said it time and time again, he is too selfish to be a mid-fielder… just look at the 20min when TV7 gets mad at him for not passing the ball and just losing procession easily… RAMSEY WILL NOT AND CANNOT BE CESC’S REPLACEMENT… WE NEED A DECENT MID-FIELDER!

I see the ratings on Goal.com give Ramsey a higher rate than Rosicky… I think he played way better than him… I agree with a comment someone made here that we should play with him and Arteta.. For the nest game I hope we bench that sucker… But that is hopeless… It’s clear that wenger has favorites… and he and walcott are part of the list… just as Denilson used be not so long ago…

Walcott… he should try out for the olympic track team, I’d rather have nathan dyer in my line up…

Enough is enough… Arsene and the board needs to go… Bring David Dein back

  70. Koolio says:

You guys do know we are only 4 points behind a shitty chelsea….right?

  71. Tieneich says:

@Koolio, they did until AOC was replaced.

@ everyone, I think spending big is not a problem as long as Peter Hill-Wood’s mindset can change. He already said that not making UCL isn’t such a great deal. What a d!ckhead? Before this kind of person get dragged down from the board we’ll never get a world class player with even 15 mil transfer fee.

That being said, we really missed Arteta badly as well. We are exposed in the mid fielder. Arteta is too important for our current team.

  72. a.k.a gunner says:

that would be 5 points behind chelsea & 10 behind spurs @Koolio.

doesn’t matter though. We were lucky that Liverpool & Newcastle lost against Bolton & Fulham. Otherwise, we would be sitting pretty at 7th and a long line to look above.

I guess we will be spending next 3 months playing catch up with either Chelsea or Liverpool but I am sure one of them would pip us to the 4th spot.

So far the script says it has a tragic ending unless the director Wenger decides to change it.

  73. observer says:

@Mofaz “Van Persia was looking for his agent after the final whistle ..please get me out of this club and call Barcelona ASAP!”

the above statement is quite funny/hilarious,
its funny and sad at the same time but he is probably right. RVP aint coming back for 2012/2013 season, thats for sure my fellow gunners, he really looked abject staring into nothingness at the final whistle. Oh ARSENAL AND ARSENE. TOP FOUR? Not Looking good at the moment.

  74. anonymous_gooner says:

Mofaz: “Arshavin is a lazy midget”

I cannot believe somebody keeps to say it. He was the only Arsenal player who did _something_ at the moment, all others just stayed and watched, and yet he is called “lazy”.

Very funny. First Wenger put him to the left winger position, now Arshavin suddenly became a left fullback.

  75. mofaz says:

Robin van Persie must decide based on the transfer policy of the manager and the board if he wants to stay with the club. The Arsenal today lacks the ambition. He should pack his bags and go to Barcelona. It hurts to admit it but Arsenal glory days are truly over. Arsene experiment with the youth team building policy has failed the prime example being Walcott and Ramsey. We’d lucky if we can get a draw against Bolton .. We’ll be dumped out of the FA cup and CL soon..

  76. mofaz says:

Arshavin’s lack of passion on the field is obvious and not based on yesterday’s match only..

  77. Alex says:

@anonymous_gooner – Yes, Arshavin has been playing like he doesn’t give a damn for quite some time now… win or lose… it’s all the same to him.

@mofaz – You said it… You can easily tell that he has no desire nor motivation to give his best on the pitch… Really disheartening given his undeniable skill and ability.

As Piers Morgan said it today… taking AOC off was a $30 million mistake… We might only be 4 underneath Chelsea.. but that might as well be 40 points… Arsene has a long and proven track record of not getting the wins when it counts (think the past 3 seasons around this time)… It’s sad but true… RVP is playing his last season at Arsenal… Sad to see him go, but it would be unfair with him to expect him stay when he only has a few years left at his prime…
HAs anybody heard any transfer rumors?? at all??? any?… I heard Guarin is about to leave Porto.. would be great if we could hijack that deal… one can only hope

  78. mofaz says:

Finishing top 4 as a target for the past 5-6 seasons is pathetic. As long as the manager’s target is CL qualification, Arsenal will not win any trophy. If Arsenal is to finish outside the top 4, might as well be 7th place..

  79. anonymous_gooner says:

    Alex:

“Yes, Arshavin has been playing like he doesn’t give a damn”

Who did then? I repeat, before their second goal, Arshavin was the only player who did something, all others didn’t give a fuck really, including Vermaelen, Merte, Song etc.

  80. mofaz says:

Anyone knows when will Arsene’s contract ends ? The fans with the season tickets should make their feeling clear to the club. With the current economic doom and gloom the fans sacrifice should be rewarded by a spirited performance by the players..Its just incredible that players like walcott, arshavin etc who did not perform at their job can carry on collecting their weekly pay. If any other profession you dont perform you’ll get sack !

  81. anonymous_gooner says:

    Mofaz:

    2014 AFAIK.

  82. mofaz says:

Wenger admitted the “tactical change” he made taking off AOC and putting on Arshavin was a mistake !! AOC provided the pass for VP to score for god sake..if taking off one of your best player and in exchange of an off form Arshavin suppose to be a tactical change then we are doomed !! Proof that Arsene is no longer a professor, he has become a school teacher, a kinder garden teacher at that!

  83. mofaz says:

Van Persie’s reaction when AOC was subbed was clear. He was not amused!

  84. gooner says:

If Arsenal is to finish outside of the TOP 4, they might as well finish 8th or below, so the board can actually start to buy some decent players..

  85. Arschloch says:

    @mofaz

and he is beyond any sense of modesty, is very authoritative and clamins to be out of accountability for mistakes. In which world does he live. I think this man has got too old and fucking mad.

  86. Arschloch says:

“If they have no bread, let them Brioche [cake] eat”. next Wenger´s message to Arsenal fans :-) .

  87. Jellykid says:

@mofaz… WTH are you talking about LOL I always read some kind of idiotic remarks from you that aren’t even facts but you still want them to be for some retarded reason.

@ARSHAVIN… lack of passion or desire I kinda see that in the past games but seriously when you come on the pitch with EVERYONE BOOING YOU, You think hes going to get a positive settlement there, JUST BEING REALISTIC! CLEARLY ARSHAVIN ISN’T A LEFT BACK, I DO AGREE MAYBE AOC WOULD HAVE DONE BETTER BUT!! OVERALL it was VERMINATORS FAULT FOR POSITIONING!

@AW again with this YOUTH DEVELOPMENT THING??? Why do you bring that up with a game without ACTUAL FULLBACKS and INJURIES! THAT EVERYONE KNOWS OF. BTW about AW Clearly said He wanted AOC to BE ON but REALISTICLY AOC was FATIGUE and couldn’t handle the intensity of a game like that so HE DIDN’T WANT AOC TO GET AN UNWANTED INJURY ON THE LONG RUN FOR THE SEASON!

  88. Ofebs says:

Its time for Arsenal supporters including the Arsenalist and people like Piers Morgan, to rally together and attack the rot in the club with one voice. The rot isn’t Wenger or players, its the BOARD.

It was ok to cap spending when the club had massive debts due to moving to Emirates. Now the debt is manageable and the team needs big investment. This is where our focus should be…

There should be a massive sustained campaign starting now for the club to bring in quality mature players at the end of the season. They will be expensive, the board must spend…

  89. montreal gunner says:

a stupid substitution beyond any word .

  90. icJgunner says:

    jellykid,

it would be a lot easier to take you seriously if you didn’t yell like that. It seems entirely unnecessary and only serves to bring down any sort of reasonable conversation.

Why does it seem so obvious to the fans while Wenger can’t (or refuses) to see the reality of the situation?

  91. icJgunner says:

oh, the Walcott knock really compounded the idiocy of the Ox substitution. Did anybody notice how dazed Walcott was after the injury? He clearly had more than a minor concussion after being knocked unconscious for what 30 seconds? But there were no ideal subs for him…. Wenger royally f*cked this one up.

  92. icJgunner says:

Lastly, looks like all the highlights have been removed :(

  93. gooner says:

good bye RVP you have been great to us
    real legend
Robin Van Persie, Robin Van Persie Robin Van Persie Robin Van Persie Robin Van Persie

  94. gooner says:

    @arsenalist i can’t see one single video
    can you pls fix this?
    thanks

  95. a.k.a gunner says:

guys it’s really unfair to blame Arshavin for that goal. Let’s be honest here. We should be giving him some credit for sticking with Valencia & not letting him shoot. Here’s the reason:

Have you ever seen an opposing winger tracked by a single person & that too near the box. Not until now. Valencia is one hell of a winger & to ask Arshavin to take him on single handed is ridiculous. You always double team a winger so that one guy defends if he goes for a cross, the other stops him from cutting in. This time Vermalean was not there to stop him cutting inside. You can see Arshavin lifting his leg to block the intended cross & then realizes Vermalean is nowhere, still he tracks Valencia down & does not let him shoot.

If you should blame someone then it should be Verminator but I guess he can be forgiven for that mistake. He is human after all.

That said, Arshavin looks like he is lost everything upfront. I am a big fan but now I feel that he should go. That would be better for him & the club.

  96. Gnostradamus says:

a.k.a gunner, I’m with you 100%, but most fans seem to just copy the general consensus either in the media or on here. You don’t hear commentators blaming Arshavin for the goal, because he tried to stop it, unlike everyone else. Anyone who watched the goal should’ve seen that. Yes, he wasn’t able to do so, but did any other Arsenal players even tried? Where was our left back? Oh right, it’s the Verminator so it’s definitely not his fault.

(No, I don’t think it was his fault; as I kept saying, the fault came from the fact we have no fit fullbacks.)

Having said that, Arshavin’s not contributing up front, and when everyone’s against him, putting him in place of the most eye-catching player on the field was asking for trouble, an open invitation to turn your own fans against you, no matter what the reason is.

  97. Karabas says:

Yea, “we lost because of Arshavin”, because clearly football is an individual sport. What the heck people?

Arshavin dominated for Zenit and the Russian national team no by his defense, but his offense. He played AMF or forward, and he played in the CENTER (not on the side as he’s played now). He definitely did not defend. That he even tries from time to time is impressive.

People gotta stop blaming him for being played out of position and start blaming the coach for putting him there and the idiot fans who make his job even harder.

Ever heard of a thing called POSITIVE reinforcement? It seems like Arsenal fans don’t want their team to play well.

  98. anonymous_gooner says:

These suckers on DM deleted all the video. Are there any chances to get them elsewhere?

  99. gunnerKS says:

    from Arsenal.com, Q&A with Wenger:

    on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain…
He is alright, it was just fatigue. His calf was not gone or anything like that, he just started to tire a little bit. It is normal for a guy who plays a game at that intensity. But health-wise he has no problem. He will be involved on Sunday.

EVERYONE knew it, Wenger knew it…., f… u wenger

  100. Disappointed says:

    Simply cannot make it…
