    Theo with two!

  • James Bond

Arsenal – Blackpool 10-0 at full time !!! Arsenal Forever!

  • Zeb

    Cmon Theo get a hatrick!

  • Torgny

Song replacing Gallas. Very interesting. Song was very good at the midfield last season, and did some substitues as a full-back.

  • Einareen

    A win is a win ^^

  • rimau

    go gunners!!!

Anyone else love Arshavin’s 3 one-touch passes for the first goal? He orchestrated that move. Got the ball from Clichy, first time pass to Chamakh, receives it back, first time to Rosicky, receives it back again, first time slipped through to Walcott who finishes. Always moving, always available for the pass, finesse in his delivery. That’s what you need from Arshavin more often. That’s what he can do to teams when he’s not lazy.

Rosicky ran the show today. Thoroughly impressed with him and always have been. Was shocked to see Arsenal fans on Teamtalk asking for him to be offloaded over the past year or so saying he’d lost it. They don’t know anything about football. He’s a severely underrated football with a masterclass in tackling and passing. Great fight in him.

    Arsenal ’til I die.

Arshavin put on quite the show today. If you go back and watch the liverpool game, he didn’t play as poorly as a lot people said. Liverpool’s defense was just faster and better positioned and Arsenal players did not return his touch-passes. i think wenger went back to tape and asked players to remember that 1-2’s are almost always there for the taking.

In any event, Rosicky and Arshavin have looked very good indeed so far. The real problem (and its a good problem to have) is that between Rosicky, Arshavin, Nasri, Cesc you can really only have so many of those players on the pitch at once. Against the weaker teams its okay to have 3 of those players on the pitch but against other top clubs I think you need more size & steel in the MF and 2 of Chamakh/RVP/Walcott to be stretching the defense up top. Which leaves only 2 spots for creative, on-the-ball types. Against top-4 competitors:

Chamakh/RVP/Walcott: 1 playing as target man, 1 on the wing and drifting inside

Cesc/Rosicky/Nasri/Arshavin: 1 on the wing, drifting inside and 1 in CAM

    Song/Denilson/Diaby: 2 holding MFs

Wilshere fits the bill in that 2nd group more than the 3rd but do to current depth, we’ll see him as a holding MF.

Wow what a game today, huh?! Theo was on fire, really a superb performance. Arshavin and Rosicky were also great. Would also outstand Chamakh, he scored hos first goal in Premier League tough missed some clear chances. Loved to see Song back in the team, he brought more confidence to our defensive side. Well overall the whole team was awesome. After our performance today can’t wait for the next game. This is our Arsenal. Today was just perfect!

A good day for the gunners. Almunia and our defense didnt have much to do at all today. Except when clichy totally let go of his marker for the header that went wide. Wilshire had a decent game. Diaby was good as he swept passed players, and didnt lose the ball cheaply, but was still a bit slow to deliver the pass. Rosicky was AMAZING!!! So good to see getting to the top of his game after the long long time out. Chamakh was good today, sad he missed the easiest shot of the game but those happen once in a while. His header was brilliant and shows glimpses of what we sometimes missed last season. What I like about him is that he fights for the ball with so much enthusiasm. Arshavin was absolutely brilliant today, the way he played seemed so effortless yet so fruitful. Theo walcott was absolutely brilliant today. His finishing was spot on, he fed some decent balls in and the second goal was jut out of nowhere! If he manages to keep playing like this, it will take us a long way this season.
All in all, a few tweaks here and there (such as clichy needing to work on his marking, it let us down a few times last season), a new CB, a new goalie, and no major injuries, and I think we got a serious shot at the title. And like AW said, the fact that we did not get sloppy til the wistle was a very good sign, all we gotta do is keep this up til the end of the season.

Plus good to see Theo make an impact not as a sub.

  • a.k.a gunner

superb win… but don’t get carried away… we did this against weaker teams throughout last season but sucked in the big ones… Credit to Blackpool.. they didn’t come here and play negative football.. they played our style of game but got punished for the lack of quality and the red card… This match cannot be taken as a sign for whats to come…
We’ll see next week at Blackburn what Arsenal can do against tough defending teams…. or on the 3rd of October at Stamford Bridge…

    Go Gunners!

  • DimaRaja

Happy for the gunners to get such a victory!!! I’m a Chamakh fan and think the team is getting much better since he got there. Arsenal axis is very reliable right now (with Vermalen & Diaby). He also add this easy looking down to earth balls that end up in a direct shot, like we all saw today. Like ‘AKA GUNNER ‘ said, it is not a good game to base an analysis on though; and the season is very long.
Hope Song will be kept where he played today, he brought confidence to both defense and middle men. If they keep playing the ball like they did today, I can assure the season will end fine this year. I just loved the tactical lucidity, possession stability and fun game, they combined today. This stuff is to be reproduced

  • Einareen

    Holloway… What a fanboy x]

  • fatgunner

very happy for Theo and Rosicky… Both were unlucky last year and a half..Rosicky was always a favorite but very much under rated.. seriously a good goalie and a backie will make our team stronger.. Sagna should also cross the way he was doing today and as many gooners here have rightly pointed out Clichy should take good care of his marking.. We need to be stronger than the certain other team which has scored 6 goals in both of its opening games this season (Chelshite)..Eagerly waiting for the 3rd of October..
And well one more thing..It was great to see when Cesc came on!

  • Bonnie Prince Charlie

Wow, Arsenalist, you were kept busy today. Job well done, as usual. I’m also hoping that you’ll get the chance to put up the MOTD on this game. I hear that Alan Hansen, apparently still smarting over 1989, had some unpleasant things to say about Walcott, which is something after the game that he had.

  • Farshid

    Good game overall …. but what’s with chelsea?:O 12 goals in 2 matches… they sure look scary:D .
anyway , i might think theo is more of a striker instead of winger:D
his decisions in passing is poor , his crosses was almost poor , but we saw diffrent walcott today that he had a great eye on goal and his runs were gr8 az always.

  • Gooner
  • zeb

i watched that charlie. hansens still having a go at walcott for his crap delivery, and instead of showing the goals he showed the one time where he skied a ball. fortunatly lawrensen and lineker both think he is awesome so they drowned out the prats complaints

  • amused gunner
  • zeb

scallani or however you spell has agreed a deal with the gunners sevilla sources report, he is coming to north london for a medical with the english side on monday

get in there you gunners!!!! now get a goalkeeper that doesnt fumble set peices and we are pretty much set to go all guns blazing in all competitions.

  • Saad

Good, but too early to make a judgement on where we’re heading. Especially considering that any win, no matter how big, isn’t much to celebrate if it’s against the new boys in the league.

Hopefully we can build on this form, though.
