Arsenal vs Liverpool MOTD Highlights – 1-0 (Abou Diaby winner)
Posted by Arsenalist on February 10th, 2010
Great game. Yes, the better parts of it were dull but sometimes that’s how a game needs to be played. The second-half saw an inspired performance from Arsenal and their persistence to go forward paid off. The backs did a good job of backtracking and even though Liverpool had their half-chances on the counter, the overall effort was solid and much improved from the weekend. Man Utd dropped 2 and Chelsea dropped 3. Spurs also lost to Wolves.

Dammit, that team is such as cockteaser.
February 10th, 2010 at 2:55 pm
i was a bit disappointed when we lost against united and chelsea… but to tell the truth i expected the result especially when one has seen the line-up… but i am confident that arsenal will take the result against small teams, unlike chelsea nd united… so i think arsenal can still challenge for the league… great goal by diaby… and bendtner is always improving eh… arsenal forever… regards leli

OOOOOOooooohhhh to be a goooner!
Wenger got the tactics spot on tonight!
Eboue looked great at the back, was expecting to see him playing on the weekend esp. after the United loss.
Song & Diaby were all over it, and physical power of Niklas was a relief upfront!
This team has to stay together!!!
February 10th, 2010 at 3:02 pm
the season is still long but i’m still hopeful, race for the title is still not over & also champions league knockout round is just about to take way so there is still a lot to keep your head up for
February 10th, 2010 at 3:02 pm
SWEEEET! Now that’s tactical genius at work. I didn’t understand why Nasri got subbed at first, but then his replacement supplied the cross for Diaby in the end. Good work, Wenger! It doesn’t matter how you win, as long as you win!
February 10th, 2010 at 3:04 pm
Good game of our team, especially form Diaby imo. He was all over the pitch, won many balls, good passing and a great goal. Manu dropped 2 points, Chelski 3, Spurs 3, what a great evening
. So time to go out and have one or two drinks on the mighty Arsenal
February 10th, 2010 at 3:04 pm
@lockdown12 Nasri had a concussion.
February 10th, 2010 at 3:05 pm
COME ON!!!! COME ON!!!! FUCK CHELSEA, FUCK UNITED, ARSENAL COME ON!!!!!
February 10th, 2010 at 3:05 pm
With that kind of line up with bendtner up front and arshavin more in his winger role, it’s way better. won’t add anything for now, just wait & see if we’re able to make it against the so called “small” team.
Great result though, chelsea just lost and MU drew @ villa !
February 10th, 2010 at 3:14 pm
@Arsenalist…Ah, well nevermind then. I was giving Wenger too much credit. Still, it worked out.
February 10th, 2010 at 3:16 pm
wow what a way to brighten up my week!!!!! who knew that we’d be able to close the gap this soon. one thing we can rely on is the unreliability of chelsea and manu against the smaller teams. good to see bendtner get some touches, lol i still think almunia is utter rubbish, and walcott was rather disappointing, kept losing the ball, which is completely opposite of the football we love playing.
anyways! GO GUNNERS!!!!
February 10th, 2010 at 3:17 pm
WoW! at bendtner he has improoved wasent a great fan of him but..really happy at the way he played and diaby and rosciky lol at fabregas he got booked at anfield for doin the same thing!

I think Rosicky and Eboue on the right were a big part of us winning this game, they both play well offensively and defensively but its this next point that makes them work.
Rosicky is wonderful at cutting inside from the right line and drawing players with him, his close control is great and this leaves acres of space for Eboue to run into.
The two of them should be automatic starters from here on out.
February 10th, 2010 at 3:56 pm
oooooohhh Diaby!!!!
February 10th, 2010 at 3:57 pm
theo’s last touch in the 92min just shows he is missing class. approaching the corner flag with the ball, instead of protecting it next to the corner flag and wathc the clock count down like thierry did in his best days, theo passes it back with his left foot to reina…. why? why? why?
February 10th, 2010 at 4:17 pm
Amazing, after our last two matches I was almost sure that we weren’t going to be able to stay in the title race.
Awesome that United and Chelsea dropped points too!
February 10th, 2010 at 4:45 pm
OOOOOOOOOOHHHHH YES! come on arsenal…..
What a beautiful evening, lovely home cooked meal by my wife to be, then off to the pub to see us beat liverpool and chelsea and tottenham lose and utd draw. Plus meeting loads of european like minded people. Perfect. Thank you Arsenal, Thank you Wenger, and Thank you Life………
good work arsenalist.

Brilliant! The result was good but i think the fact that manu n chelsea din do well makes it really good! now lets see if our team has the strength to keep the pressure on! all the best gunners!

just a litle post to remind the people who where calling wenger rubish… past by date.. etc.. and those who where saying its all over ,we got no talent .. team cant perform etc.. etc..
YOU WERE ALL WRONG!!!!!!
IF you call yourself “fan” then you always try to be optimistic.. you should beleive in this young team, i think its to easy to say bad things about wenger..
Here few say before that the time will come..
i dont care how long it take for us to be recognise as a great team with talented player who play beautiful football cos as long as it hapend it will mean that all those season where not lost for nothing..
tonight we learn that “We” as arsenal fan get frustrated to easily, we forget to quickly what Wenger is trying to build.. a new ERa .. and in certain match it is true that we play badly and the team should be ashame but they r learning, as a group as a unit.. and it is in bad time that “US” fan should give then the most of support!!
I know that people will put forward that season ticket holder pay a lot of money to see their team win game and title but.. is not the definition of fan is people who just support and cheer the team through good and bad time , sunny or rainny weather ??
Tonight iam proud to be a gunners fan and if tomorow is a shit day and we looose the title race it will not upset me cos my team play great football and improve year after year no matter what is said by critic.. i think we r the best of english football and one day we will be recognise for it
Sorry for my poor english and
IN ARSENAL WE TRUST
PS: i still dont like almunia..
February 10th, 2010 at 8:47 pm
Thanks mate. Fuck yeah! We’re still in this.
February 10th, 2010 at 9:34 pm
man only if certain cunts didnt rip adebayor and knock his confidence down to make him a mediocre player for the rest of the season…he wouldnt of wanted to leave nor would we have sold him. we so could use him now he could be are t-rex he was on FIREEE when he was on top form. anymoney with the team we have now with the old ade we could…would? be top!!!
p.s ade is still a cunt
February 10th, 2010 at 10:32 pm
A lot of fans are full of it, we lose 2 in a row and its off with wengers head. Be patient for shit sake. manu and chelsea are better teams, its hard to admit it, but they have the talent, size and bench. and money. and douchey coaches. and stupid fans. and ass licking owners, and so on. Beating liv though is a big gain, gerrard was talkin about Arsenal being a wounded animal? Well you just got beat by a gimpy animal you fuck. suck it.
But from what i saw, bendtner is still a clumsy moron, although rosicky missed a couple of key chances, it was nice to see him in the fray again, just please dont get hurt for the next 3 years. Diaby is keepin up his good form from what i saw which is exciting. I still dont like almunia, but i dont know anybody that does. And the goal was a beautiful process in whihc rosicky was the key. Let this be the start to another rol Gunners!! just dont get fuckin hurt.
Thx Alist!! Go Guuuunners!!

Great comments from Fabregas, particularly at the end about Barcelona. God he must be so sick of it.
February 11th, 2010 at 12:07 am
I just have to say- I am considering naming my first born “Arsenalist”. Can’t thank you enough for your work man.
February 11th, 2010 at 1:47 am
@Sonofkick et al:
(
we haven’t won anything YET, and it won’t do much good if you depend on other’s results, I am still pesimistic that we will have a chance to win EPL this year, although I’d be screaming up and down the city for days if we won actually, but I still think it’s a long long shot for us.
So why the f… AW did not apply similar tactics for the previous games?
February 11th, 2010 at 2:47 am
@johnny 46 :
True we havnt won anythingand its gonna take a lot for us to end top this year, now for why wenger didnt do the same to Man U and chelski… nobody will ever know.. pride? over confidence? did the player apply what was ask? dont know… and i have to reckon that MANU and CHSEA are really good team ( if nani wasnt sent off against villa for sure they would have won it)
but my comment was more about people saying shit about the team and wenger, i just want fan to be fan and to stick with the team whatever hapened.. and if this year is not our destiny then iam sure the next one with the right add to the squad will be a gr8 season.. remenber that those boys( yet not men) are a good vintage who will soon come to maturity..
and whatever people think, Wenger is doing the best job for arsenal and football and i tell you that unfortunatly he got only 1 more seson contract so if he goes to a madrid or barcelonna you will come to realise how big this monsieur is.
I beleive in Wenger and in Arsenal i Trust
Ps: really , i still think almunia is shit, damn why arsenal end with a crap keeper!!

Oooohhh I am only disappointed that for 5 years now we have been almost there, max. up to 90-92%, just couldn’t go all the way to the top…So was thinking maybe it is time for a change…or as I was reading in eurosport, maybe AW doesn’t really have the money to pay extr. high salaries, at least not until the stadium is paid off….so who knows exactly….I’ll remain a gooner 4ever though
February 11th, 2010 at 4:47 am
johnny 46
yep i think thats the case , wenger cant afford big salaries.. and yes i understand people want more of silerware..maybe we need 1 more gem in the squad, the one who will manage to get all this little genius to go through big game
February 11th, 2010 at 5:22 am
Buffon is gnh be a free agent in the summer!!!
February 11th, 2010 at 5:55 am
Hey do you have a video of Gerrard’s two pathetic dives? I would appreciate it!
February 11th, 2010 at 6:08 am
@sonofkick
what was wrong in those man utd and chelsea game were tactics, i think it was the main reason of criticism by the “fan” about wenger + the poor defensives mistakes.
But you’re right when you say that a fan need to stick behind his team whatever it’s a good or a bad period.
I personnaly won’t exchange wenger for any manager in the world BUT with those big defense it’s a huge mistake to put someone as small as arshavin up front.
What we really need in the next few years is to keep in-form player fit..
2 years ago we were top until loosing edouardo and rosicky for long term injury and MU came back and won it. Last year we did “ok” against big 4 teams but loosing to stoke away or hull city @ home for example doesn’t help.
That to say we need a bit of luck too to win things [...]CFC without drogba, MU without rooney for the whole season like RVP and it’s a complete different league[...]
February 11th, 2010 at 7:04 am
@ howard
yes true, we lost our main man, RPV, he was outstanding before he got injured. we actually have a decent squad, but the problem is that we keep losing our guys to injuries, not just this season. i think we need a new keeper, and also a leader on the pitch, hopefully song can get in there. someone keeping good communication at the back in the big games, we really lack tht
February 11th, 2010 at 7:04 pm
any chance of RPV playing again this season?
February 11th, 2010 at 8:23 pm
I don think the victory changed anythin with respect to the team issues that most of us fans have! They have always shown promise except wen they play the big teams! If they play ManU or Chelsea again lets see how they play! Then we can see if the anything has changed and if we can give them a good game like what we did at old trafford earlier in the season!
The happy part is that we’re done playing the remaining of the big four n that we are within six points of the leaders!
February 12th, 2010 at 5:19 am
last year, we were on top of the big 4 but kept losing to the boltons and such. this year, we are losing to the big 4 and winning our bolton game. remember 2 weeks ago – 2:0 downa against bolton. a year ago, that game was over, this year, the goals are really coming from everywhere – tnx god…
February 12th, 2010 at 8:15 am
giggs-broken arm. nani-broken ankle (thanks to an american!). so hopefully rooney breaks his legs and drogba goes down for a year or so. then they would feel a fraction of our frustration
February 12th, 2010 at 11:33 am
@mofaz Expected return date is mid-March. That is an optimistic evaluation and a month sooner than he was expected to return.
February 14th, 2010 at 11:58 pm
This is probably my favorite win for me in 2010. I love this squad, and Bentner is working his way to improve just like Diaby did.
I only hope that Theo can get into the form that he had early last season. I believe he can improve with some playing time, even though it can be really risky. But if he and Bent shake off the rust then we have skills on the left, physical presence in the middle, and speed on the right.
