Arsenal vs Everton MOTD Highlights 2-2

Posted by Arsenalist on January 9th, 2010

Disappointing. I think the bad weather played a factor, it helped Everton as they were able to stay in the game while we struggled to get our usual passing play going on the slippery surface.

im not sure why everyone thot this game was a formality – it was always going to be tough especially with song missing his first game – the 2nd everton goal was a shambles defensively for us which i dont think would have happened if song was playing but we need to get used to it and whoever was playing the deeper holding role neds to be alot more discipined but wher eon earth were both billy and the verminator – surely one should stay back to defend ?

    very disappointed : (

Not sure why everybody is so upset and disappointed. Everton have a quality squad and they played extremely well closing arsenal down. They kept their shape and in truth, had more and better chances than Arsenal. Good draw and moves us up to second + keeps our unbeaten steak going.

i know that we are all disappointed… home games should all be won… but the weather was horrible, and important players were missing… these should be taken in consideration…

also i think it was better that we drew than the match being postponed to a later date which will cost us more due to fixture congestion…

tnks for the video postages arsenalist… hope we will do better next time…

  9. iGunnersJ Says:

Certainly not an impressive game for Arsenal, although the stoppage time equalizer is better than nothing. As always, thanks for the highlights arsenalist.

Arsenal have the quality to do better, under normal circumstances, but todays match was not the perfect one for their/our style, snow made it worse, but coming away with 1 point is better than nothing. One should take in consideration that we have a lot of first team players missing, not that I am saying that this arsenal squad stinks, but still, a point is a point and coming twice from behind is not at all bad. Let us all just hope that chelski let down on their games, stink bad and vice versa for us.

I can see why people are dissapointed but I am somewhat pleased, seeing as how we did grab a point with our play not being as good as it should have. You must remember that that ball must of felt like a concrete ball, the footing was not good, and Everton are not the team we blasted earlier this year.
From what I saw on the MOTD highlights, I am still disconcerned about our lack of physicality and size up front, and Almunia’s keeping was questionable as always, although that last save was crucial and clinical on his part. But I am so pleased with Diaby as of late. He is physical, tall and his recent games, from what I’ve seen, have been his best yet. His clearence near the end of the game saved a for sure Everton goal, and his movement before the Rosicky goal is what gave us a point in the end.
Not a great game, but we should be pleased with the positives, and hopefully Arsene can address the weakness’s that his squad have. Man U also tied, so there is always hope. I will pray to all the gods that chelsea tie or better yet lose.

    Go Gunners!!

  14. conner Says:

And if Arshavin was a little taller, we would have won by 2 or so.

  15. arin Says:

    go gunners!!!!

  16. Tieneich Says:

Wow everyone comes here being so pissed. I was glad to come out with one point. Toffees came out sharp and physical. We did’t handle it well, but we handled the snow even worse.

Remember we are a team that keeps possession. We rely on passes to advance. How will this weather condition affection our plays? A LOT. We needto run and on-target passes, snow does not allow us to do it.

As for the second half, we were at a disadvantage. As you saw on the screen, our goal area had more snow piled up. That was terrible for defense. If you slip while attacking, you miss a goal. If you slip while defending, you concede a goal. Which one is worse? Remember our defeat at CSKA a few years back?

You want people to play harder so they all ended up like Denilson? (Arsh and Diaby were playing damn hard last night).

    Give me a break.

  17. sabudin Says:

no matter wat we are still in very good position given the fact our main players will come back fresh….we are gonna kill it this time…
