This brings back such great memories of my few years living in London. This was my first out-of-town away game. Some mates and I took the Arsenal coach to Anfield. Liverpool were the Cup holders. The Kop end raised placards and sang "Justice for the 96" for 6 minutes into the match to protest Kelvin McKenzie's treatment of the Hillsborough incident. We in the Arsenal end were singing as loud as we could to counter the Kop end. Needless to say there was much electricity in the air.

Rosicky (remember him?) scored 2 crackers in the first half. In the second half Pool got one back and were pressing for the equaliser. Then Henry's one moment of brilliance sealed Pool's fate. It also sealed my fate of becoming a die-hard Gooner. I was on the second row and Henry slid on his knees right in front of us. We went ballistic. We spent the entire coach ride back to London singing and talking about the match.

This was my first taste of real football fanaticism and I couldn't get enough of it. I can only imagine what it would be like be at Cup Final or league title winning match. Now I watch from a distance back in the States. I miss it.
