Arsenal vs Everton Goals and MOTD Highlights

It’s better to tie than to lose. And even if you have to tie, you should do so in stoppage time.

What a frustrating game to watch. We had no consistency and I don’t think anyone had a good match. Give credit to Everton for their playing well, but I think our playing poorly was more our doing. Denilson cannot play effectively on the right wing. He has no pace out there and can’t track back against fast wingers. As much as I have been critical of Eboue I think I’d prefer him there to Denilson.

I don’t know what the big infatuation there is with Diaby. For someone playing in the central role he has been there is little to show for his efforts during a game. It seems you go 5-10 minutes without seeing him do much. Sure he had a nice chip to RVP for the goal, but the rest of the night he didn’t do much. I can’t even begin to count the number of challenges in which he stayed vertical and lost them instead of sliding in and at least making the opponent think twice about going in for a challenge.

Our last two ties we didn’t generate much of an attack and I think that directly correlates to Nasri staying out wide left most of the match. The previous matches where our play picked up late were all ones he moved centrally the last third of the game and really created things. Diaby, Denilson and Song cannot do that. I don’t know what Wenger doesn’t move Diaby wide left for stretches and let Nasri roam the middle more (or better yet give Vela at least a short run towards the end of games).

If you listen to the commentary on the injury-time RvP goal, he says “…and that’s what they’re capable of”. Which sums it up perfectly. We can run rings round teams – but why can’t we seem to turn it on?

It’s a desperately frustrating time to be an Arsenal fan. We don’t seem to know what our best side is. Nasri should be playing the central Cesc role whilst our skipper recovers, he’s proved he can do it successfully. Eboue should be sold immediately, I cannot bear his stupid behaviour. I’d drop him from an under-11 side. And our defence is an utter joke. I simply don’t know what to say any more. I have to walk into work tomorrow past a load of Spurs, Chelsea and Man Utd fans, who will give me hell for being remotely pleased at a 1-1 away draw at Goodison.

well for me it was awful game:( …. some players couldn’t even pass a simple ball and that was so sad , losing easy balls and in the goal cahill was totally clear and headed easily …. all our midfield was in wrong position except song , but he was awful too:( …. maybe we really need someone like arshavin to create balls for our front , i hope to be top 4 like always:(
