Arsenal vs. VfB Stuttgart Highlights and Goals: Pre-Season Friendly

Posted by Arsenalist on July 30th, 2008

VfB Stuttgart 1, Arsenal 3

A bit tougher competition this afternoon. We should’ve been up 1-0 early if RVP hadn’t decided to use the old L1 + O button on the PS3 when trying to shoot. Why chip it in when you can shoot it right through? Didn’t matter though, a 3-1 win while being comfortably in control for 80 of the 90 minutes sounds good enough. Bendtner was very impressive again, he’s playing in a very fluid manner and not like the robot he sometimes seems. The control and finish on the second goal was flawless and might I even say Thierry Henry like. Speaking of Henry, there’s a little bonus video I recorded where he talks about his goal against the scum as being one of his favorites, its part of the Legend DVD promo: Watch :: Download.

Vela, Wilshire and Walcott were impressive yet again. Enjoy the highlights and to say thank you, just click on a sponsor link. Remember to grab the Arsenal feed. There’s also the Match Report.

Is anyone else as impressed with Bendtner in the pre-season as I am? His control in the air has been fantastic and him and Vela, who’s also looking quite good, seem to be linking up nicely. Theo and RvP looked on the same page in the first half as well… I wish I could have as much confidence in our attack as our defense. Need a signing there in addition to a central midfielder (Bischoff is unproven.. couldn’t break into Bremen’s first team and of course he’s not the experienced player this team needs).

Vela is da man! He had the best goal in my opinion! And Him and Bendtner are Spectacular!

Vela is the truth. He was awesome for Osasuna last year. I watch a whole bunch of La Liga and not any premier league unless it involves the Gunners bc it hurts my eyes. The back needs help definitely and a holding mid would be awesome but sometimes you have to make due with what you got and hopefully Alex Song steps up this year. If he turns out well we could once again be a scary team that no one believes in. Mo cash, I agree with you on Bendtner he looks so collected when aerial balls are coming his way. That goal was freakingly similar to all those tap in volleys henry made a living off of.

I saw vfb play Bochum at that stadium last year, and it’s a real beauty. Twice so when our young guns are lighting the place up!

Those yellow kits are amazing too. I smell a Vela 12 coming my way soon.

  8. Raymond Says:

Quite a wonderful game from RVP, Theo walcott, vela, Jack wilshire, Bedtner,Nasri and jack wilshere. Jack is an absolute class moreover i see vela as the new eduardo with a faster pace. And for the def.midfilder we are lacking inler would be great but diaby would do. Until rosciky comes back and fight for his place and nasri moves to the center midfield and walcott on the right. If wenger is got what i have in mind. We dont need anymore signings. Almunia, Toure, Gallas, Clichy, Sagna, Nasri, Fabregas, vela or rosiscky, theo, RVP and Adebayor.

anyone else feeling VERY good about the carling cup this season?! If the so-called second string players can play like this, dont think there’ll be anyone they fear!

  21. 3-1 to the Arsenal! Plus, get a free shirt? « 7am Kickoff Says:

[...] Arsenalist, as usual, has the best highlights from yesterday’s game and I’ve linked to one here (above) as the teaser for this article.  It’s the second goal of the match, where Vela chips to Bendtner, who heads the ball to himself, and then clips the ball past Lehmann for a goal.  You have to watch the whole video to see that Bendtner gets a foot on the ball to score the goal because for me, at first glance it looked like he had gotten lucky and kneed the ball in.  But no, that was all skill, baby. Thanks man for the hightlights, just got back from camping this morning so i missed the game , thanks for the post . u a life saver

  23. Gunner_in_Jamaica Says:

Great match, I agree with AJ (@ #2), cause once again Bendtner is looking comfortable with the ball - aerially & on the ground. Also, our defense line’s looking suspect.

I think the media created a real big and unnecessary, lie-filled, hype over the Adebayor saga. I personally doubt he made any indication to anyone that he was interested in playing elsewhere. Yea, he prob wanted some more dough, but holding the team at ransom with threats of leaving? ya gotta be kidding.

    One Love!

  24. Gunner_in_Jamaica Says:

Stuttgart crying foul on the match highlights vid, it’s a no show.
