Arsenal vs. Genclerbirligi Highlights
Posted by Arsenalist on July 19th, 2007
An easy 3-0 win over Genclerbirligi (who?) where the Turkish side managed to hold Arsenal for the first 30 minutes or so but after that the expected domination began. Can’t read too much into a 3-0 win against an unheard of side but at least the preseason’s off on the right foot.
You could literally see the rust wearing off the players as the game went on, especially RVP who looked sluggish at the start but began to settle down and had some nice cracks at goal. Bacary Sagna and Eduardo Da Silva (I will never call him Dudu) made their debuts, Sagna seemed pretty shot-happy letting it go from quite far out a couple times, he’ll learn thats not how things are done soon.
EDS is an exciting player to watch, he’ll do the unnecessary step-overs thing but it’s also evident the man has the talent to attack the goal – something he did a few times only to find nobody at the end of his crosses. Anyway, enough talk, here are the goals.
Robin van Persie scores on a nice run and pass from Theo Walcott at 45 minutes:

Theo Walcott scores early in the second half:

Robin van Persie scores another after being setup by Adebayor. The combo we’ll rely on all season click:

Awesome, fast too. RVP looks to be in fine form. Ade still needs to work on his finishing, didn’t see much improvement from him this game.

Dudu does sound ridiculous, EDS is better.

many thanks for the highlights. I will keep your blog in my favs now. great finish by RVP for last goal with his right foot too. thought Ade looks happy to do all the build up work but looks shit scared to take a shot and miss. fair enough if he gets 25 assists this season.

Thanks for the video.
BTW, why don’t you just call him Eduardo, like he’s said to prefer?

Eduardo is fine too. Anything but Dudu really, that just sounds like dog turd.

Nice one mate.
Could you tell me what AW said in his post match interview in relation to bringing in another striker? From your caption I can imagine he said something like, ‘We have enough strikers. Van Persie and Adebayor are our first choice combination.’

Sniff, Wenger just said he doesn’t collect strikers, he has no interest in Anelka & we signed Eduardo so we don’t need another striker anyway. It was a very brief interview!!

we dont need another striker guys we have four already with Rvp Ade Dudu and Bendt with Theo as stand in. It looks as though Arsene is going to use Theo as the winger we all want him to buy and yes he might well do the business for us and save the club a fortune. It will be interesting to see how Theo gets on in the Emirates and Amsterdam, ive got a feeling he is going to make the difference for us. Heres hoping!
